thats not thru the gelcoat, just surface scratch correct???
gelcoat is pretty thick, like several mm thick, where normal paint on a car is less than 1mm.
if its just a surface scratch, forget about it, wax it up and leave it alone. if you ever do more serious damage, then get it fixed at that time.
you can wet sand the gelcoat to smooth out the scratch, then use finer and finer grit wetsanding to polish it up, finally ending up with polishing compound to get it back to original glossy shine, but all you are doing then is thinning out the surrounding gelocat to even out the scratch, its not worth it.
gelcoat repair kits can be had for 30 bux or so, might be a good solution, but probably will still be visible when done, unless done professionally.
witha repair kit you scuff the scratch edges with sandpaper, clean it with acetone, then paint in a new layer of gelcoat to fill the scratch, after it hardens, you then wetsand to smooth down the excess gelcoat and polish it until its glossy.
last technique is marinetex, fil the scratch with marinetex, then sand it smooth, and finish with blac epoxy spraypaint t omatch the hull color.
i have done this technique on my GTX SC and it turned out pertty good. all depends on whats you are comfy doing.
