    '95 750 SL Questions

Replaced needle & seats in carbs and now she will not run. Starts really hard and hardly get up onto a plane. Used the shiny steel springs (65 gram) although pop off was around 27 lbs. Any suggestions? I find this whole carb pop off issue a bit confusing as I hear and read different opinions.
Also anyone have comments on BPR8ES verses BR8ES plugs?
I have lost 2 pistons in the last 2 years so obviously running lean. Carbs spotless clean with new diaphrams and now new needle seats. Very frustrating and a lot of time to get carbs off and on.

Did you wet the needle for the test? Your pop off is too high. You should have around 16#s. Do you still have your original springs? If so try them.

You should be running the bpr8s.

What size needle and seats did you use? should be 2.0

Was the arm that pulls the needle off, level with the rest of the carb?

I've noticed Mikuni is using silver springs instead of the gold for 115 grams. Did you use the shorter silver springs, or the longer ones? BIG difference between them.

BPR8ES is a projected tip spark plug. The BR8ES is not. Either will work, but the projected tip is recommended for you.

You'll be getting much faster with carb removal.install the more you do it.

TIP: No need to remove the throttle cable from the intake manifold for carb removal. Open the throttle and slip the cable out of the drum. Install the same way.

I installed # 2.0 inlet needle/seat. Not sure which lenght spring I used. It cam in a carb kit with an assortment of shiny silver, dull silver, and black springs. This boat loves to eat pistons so the carbs are probably bad news.

Have ya had a look at the mikuni guide? It explains in detail how the pop off works and effects tuning.
