Engine running with no thrust

I recently purchased a 1997 Tigershark Montego 640, bought not running. I replaced the starter and drained oil and gas from the tanks and lines. I was out on the lake the other day and it ran perfectly GPS'd 43mph on pretty choppy water. Then I was riding and it died on me, brand new battery, fuel, and oil. I started it up again and at full throttle would only go 7 mph. Got it back to the landing loaded it up and went home. Decided to try again and it still wouldn't go over 7 mph. The impeller is in very good shape with very very little space between impeller and pump wall. The engine runs great and I think I am getting full RPM's just not wanting to go anywhere. Just need some guidance on what to do next. Thanks!

First of all it's a Tigershark...

If engine is running and revving, something is wrong in the pump area, more than likely something stuck in the pump.

if there are splines on the drive shaft they could be stripped out, but not sure how the tiger shark drive line is setup.
