  • RXP244's GPRXP Build

    Gotta a conversion started finally!

All the good pictures will come later. But I thought I might just share a few pics now. Not going to be a quick build. Gonna fab everything up first, mock it all up, then strip it all down and do all the hull finishing last, then put it all back together again. Gotta few different ideas for some of the build.

First up I mocked up a cardboard templates of some of the Alloy and Stainless things I will need. Then transfered those models to either CAD or made better templates for my water jet guy to trace into his machine. I can do all the design and assembly but I have to rely on outside help for the welding and machining etc.

Here are some finished pieces bolted into the hull for mock up.

+1 on that RXP244. I've been through the IC bracket design process from start to finish on my RXP and it is not easy. Of course, an empty hull would've helped. The one you made for your GPRXP is beautiful!

Thanks Fizzle. Of course I might have looked at yours once or twice for inspiration.

            Pump Adaption

Just about finished the pump adaptor. Full billet 6061. Just have to taper the inner dia out to the SD dia. Drill and tap the SD bolt pattern and drill water "in" hole. Allows the Seadoo Pump to fit straight in without the rubber seal. The pump centre locates on the machined lip found under the OEM seal. It also allows me to use our 50mm extension to put the pump back to about where the OEM yammy pump would have been set back to 2003 onwards. It uses the Seadoo OEM water pickup and siphon tubes with fittings thru the transom. I do have to fill all the original Yamaha water fitting holes, and then redrill 2 new holes for trim cable and water in. I am not utillising the siphon tubes. I also have enough room in both pieces to plumb up to 4 1/2 inch pressure relief fittings.

I guess you are going to move your exhaust outlet somewhere else?

Got the pump mocked up on the new transom plate. Had to have the ride plate and wedge machined to allow clearance. Made up a steering cable extension. Fit and finish is perfect. We reduced the internal diameter of the adaptor where it mates to the OEM pump shoe to reduce the huge step/lip that is standard on the factory setup. It then tapers out to 158mm to match the Seadoo Pump dia. Drilled and tapped 3 Pump Pressure Relief Fitttings, running -10 size fittings. Pretty Happy with it.

Also added a little relief to the area of the adaptor where the steering cable passes through the transom so I don't have to move it from the OEM position. Now I only have to fill all the unused yammy holes and drill new holes for the water in and trim cable.
                  Next step CUSTOM DRIVESHAFT!

Cheers boys. Not trying to cut any corners. So it might take longer than some conversions. Want a genuinely fast (100+mph) and reliable boat.

                          Keep ya posted.
