GPRXP conversion Vent system.

The first two GPRXP's were hooked up with both in and out vents located to outside of hull. There have been a few strange issues with fouled plugs, overflowing oil vent bottle with lots of white gas/water/oil liquid. Oil purity being diluted within 10 hours. Finally, after the Vigilante sat idle for a while, it stopped running. I set Jerry's gprxp up using the stock gpr system, so his is uneffected.

Upon inspection, water was found on the plugs, as well as a white deposition on the plugs. Water was found in the gas tank. After 15 gallons were removed, nearly a half a quart of water was poured off the bottom of the tank.

Root cause: the vent system "in-valve" was sucking in both moisture as well as outside water. Upon dissasembly, water poured out of the vent system.

Mark, I would say that y'all are still in the early stages of the "conversion game". There may be other small "speed bumps" along the way.

I think we are just about done with the stock hickups. We had a waterbox issue, the vent fun stuff, the air intake stuff, the driveshaft bracket leak, and some fun with battery mounting. Actually STILL having fun with battery mounting.

Everything after that is pump related, and with the massive low end torque of these engines, getting the power to the water is a huge issue.

draining my tank tonight. Thanks for the pics and the heads up. no wonder the spitfire has been fouling plugs and generally running like shit but still able to obtain 80 mph locked down to the water!

Sorry we didn't use the Yami system. I think once we gutted it for painting, and got in a rush to gear it up, I think this took back seat to any thought.

Since you are using the Riva IC, that would be another item to keep an eye on. Have you taken the water lines off, and pressure tested the water jacket? Do it like a triple pipers water jacket, and it will be more accurate than "looking for air bubbles." Prob 50psi.

Took about a 1/2 gallon out of the spitfire. couldnt see any water but some nasty looking brown crud from the bottom of the tank was spit out. I think its sand. Last time running bouys it fouled a plug, removed plug and it looked like hydroys picture but there was a speck of sand on the electrode. I think the ski burned off most of the water in the tank and all that was left was salt or sand. makes since the ski ran like crap for a good 20 minutes and slowly cleared up to run pretty damn good.

Hydro your making these fixes way to easy. Ill post up my pics when my battery for the camera charges.

Plugs, the 2 oem plugs have very little run time. The crud that came out of the tank on the left and the test on the right. The new vent system in place.

I'd say one more tank of clean gas, and you won't have any more issues. Clean the stock plugs, put them in, and run out that tank...

THEN install the new ones, and you will be done.
