If you have a SST welder or know of one, he/she should be able to contruct these pieces fairly easy. Use your own ski for the template, once you have made your cuts.

Rear Port Mount:
- Using your gpr as a guide, drill your holes lining the lower plate up, to clear the lip of the stringer. As you can see from the picture, it is nearly centered. This is a fairly important measurement on this mount. Too low, and you won't clear the stringer. Too high, and your engine will sit too high.
- Using scraps of wood, sit your upper plate parallel to the lower plate.
- Note: If you COULD drill and tap your upper plate at this time, it might make it easier than doing it on an assembled piece. However, you almost need your engine in the ski, and the plate sitting directly below the engine mount to meaure it... not an easy task.
- Use a protractor and measure the angle. If possible, tack weld the plate into place at this time, and remove for final weldment. Don't melt anything!
- The weld bead should be on top of the lower plate, but not over the top of the upper plate. If you put the weld underneath, then the mount will interfere with the stringer. If you put it on top of the upper plate, then it will interfere with the mount.
- Finish the weld and clean up the area around the weld.
- Measure, drill, and tap your upper plate at this time, if you didn't do it before.
- Install the mount. Make SURE that the bolts are just long enough to go through the plate, without touching the stringer, or it will push up your mount, and eat through the stringer.
- Don't forget, there are rivets on the inner hull holding the backing plates in place. Countersink some holes on your SST mounting plates where these rivets sit, otherwise your plates will not sit flush on the stringers and could damage the mounting plate rivets.
