How can anything be easier than using the MC-1 box ? You buy it and install it.

For using the GPR one it all depends on if you have a welder and what he charges.

If I were to order another MC-1 box I would ask them to make the exhuast outlet 3 3/4 so the hose fit better.

last time I checked it was something like $250 for the MC1.

Modify the gp12r waterbox. The rxp boxes are shit.

Anyone that was at mb3 can tell you that a straight pipe is too loud. it sounds cool at first, but that wears off quick. it is deafening.

modding a gpr box to fit the straight or j pipe should cost you about the same amount of money as a tdr box, assuming your welder isn't stupid expensive. You could also try to hook up a gibson muffler, but that requires even more fab work

          my opinion

If I were to do it all over again, I would not use an MC-1 waterbox. Its because of the bad experience I had for the shitty welds and I had to cut the inlet pipe some in order for it to fit. I could of had a GPR water box modified for 150.00. at a local welding/machine shop.

Nothing against your design Mark, my particular box was obviously rushed and when I compared pictures to everyone elses, it was obvious, mine was flawed.

I just designed it. Can't help it when the welder gets stupid.

Never made one buck off of it.

The Spitfire was VERY VERY VERY loud. You can probably hear the straight exhaust from MILES away and I am NOT exagerating.

I used the RXP box and modified it in my first conversion because the wait time for a TDR was rediculous. IMO when I gutted it and put the HUGE outlet in it, it reduced the back pressure enough to not have to worry about it blowing apart. The GPR box is VERY long and I would shorten it if I was to use it and that just adds to the expense because you would have to cut it and re-weld the end cap on it.

Well, i guess TDR it is, for 250.00 is worth the trouble..

I was playing around with this tonight before putting my TDR box back in as I have found a better solution I think (wont know until I go testing, but used an idea from the oil refinery uses to quieten their exhaust)...

anyways... before putting the TDR box back in, I was playing with the RXP water box and I still think it can be done by using an after market extention to move the J-pipe back a little so it doesn't fowel on the SC (see pictures).

I think thats great but the RXP waterbox is not going to be much quiter. You will need to run some kind of sound suppresion to get it done. In Bruce's GPR-SHO build he is using something like this.

http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/VIB1796.htm It would fit inline with the Free Flow tube if you cut it in.

Cut and weld shut the lower nipple then cap the lower on the exhaust port.

I've given up on the RXP waterbox (for the moment anyways) as I'm testing another theory with the TDR water box to quieten it (as I already have it)... should have results in a couple of weeks... but my posting of photos was more of a FYI for anyone who wants to go down the track of the RXP water box.

If you are going for absolute quiet, you will need to start from scratch. I am running an unmodded gpr 1300 waterbox and sound suppression, and it's still pretty loud. IMO, that should be the quietest setup between oem seadoo and yamaha exhausts without choking the motor.

I assure you... ANY waterbox is better than the POS stock RXP waterbox. Ask anyone that has had the baffles blow out, or the end blow off and sink their ski... but to each his own.
