So are the spines cut into the RXP shaft, or are they part of the 02-up I-shaft that you attach to the RXP shaft?

The splines are part of the 02+ I-shaft nose piece.

That piece screws into the rxp shaft?

So the power delivery goes from the engine, splines on the rxp shaft, screw threads on the adaptor shaft, then splines back the pump driveshaft.

yes, the power is delivered exactly as it in in an 02+ GPR, just without the coupler damper.

No, I was just wondering how many connections were inside that new design.

Same amount of pieces right? SD driveshaft and Yami midshaft.

Only thing I like a little better is the splines are in the hardened Yami shaft instead of being cut inside the SD shaft. Seems to be holding up so far in mine and I've given it no break what so ever.

              Cost is much better too.

No, the Teds shaft has splines cut into the shaft and is hardened. There is no screw-part to become part of the power transmission. It only goes: Engine>RXP-SHAFT>GPR driveshaft, with two spline sets only.

The new one is Engine>RXP-Shaft>screw-on coupler with splines>GPR driveshaft, with two spline sets, and a screw-set. What/How is the runout controlled with the screw-in spline coupler, and how thin does it get where the threads are? Are there runout differences from shaft/shaft due to thread differences? Are the threads that Yami uses hardened?

Just curious. I have no vested interest.

The thread fit and profile are cut to match the OEM yamaha shaft. Yhe work is done at a precision machine shop. I don't cut them myself. The shafts are checked for runout before and after the threads are cut.

The splined part of the yamaha midshaft is heat treated from the factory, and the front half of the gpr midshaft is not. Diameter of the SD shafts is the same as the gpr midshaft. Wall thickness where the threads are is unchanged. It is simply a disassembled GPR midshaft.

To clarify, Stock 02+ gpr goes
                  engine> coupler> threads> shaft> threads> female spline

                  Teds shaft
                  Engine> spline> shaft> female spline

                  My Shaft
                  Engine>spline> threads> female Spline

So essentially, it's the same as the stock 02+ gpr midshaft, just without the coupler damper.

Also the 02+ GPR mid shaft is hollow .190 wall thickness and the cut and threaded RX shaft is solid.

                      Good info.

Moved it into it's own thread in the FAQ section.

can any of you guys cut the prop side splines on a blank shaft? I can't find any info online anywhere on the spline size, od, spline root, angle or spline count. need a custom shaft machined with seadoo 28m splines on one end. preferably straight splines and not the stock crowned splines. any help is appreciated.

Does the same principal apply for the earlier GP shafts (pre 02) ie screw off internal thread?

Just saw this. I actually have a gp1200 shaft here and the answer is no. The splines are in an intermediate piece and not the part that presses into the bearing. Click image for larger version

I'll sell this one cheap if you want to mess with it.

Just to clarify, the longer on is the 02+ piece and the shorter one is the early one?
