  • 05 Honda aquatrax no oil pressure

HI everyone I have searched and found nothing on no oil pressure except about the sensors that go bad. I have no oil pressure at all at the oil filter and getting oil warning light and ski shutting off. I have already changed the sensors becuase I thought it might be bad sensors. after replacing the sensors still had same problem so did oil pressure test and have no oil pressure at all. Any common problems on 05 aquatrax that may cause no oil pressure...Thanks anyone for your ideas

First of all, I wouldn't run the engine very much until you find the problem, and certainly not in the water under load. Next, I'd ensure that I had enough oil in the engine. I would also change the oil filter in the unlikely event it is presenting a clog to the oil flow. Next, I would remove the oil pressure sensor and fit a (temporary) mechanical gauge. Even at cranking speed you should show considerable oil pressure, at least 20#.

In other words, before I panicked, I would make absolutely, positively sure that the engine was not developing oil pressure.

If it isn't, then it's time to either score a shop manual (they are free on line) and get ready for some serious wrenching or find and hire a competent repair guy to do the work. Above all, if it has no pressure, you should not continue to use the 'ski w/o knowing why it doesn't.

Fortunately, the oil pump can be R&R'd w/o removing the engine, and the oil pump can fail.

BTW, it might help to address your issue if you'd lay out its history. Like were you busting along and just suddenly got the warning, or did it warn every now and then with increasing frequency over several weeks or months.

nd thank you for your replay. I was out having fun in the ocean all day no signs of any problems. I headed back to the dock when the oil light came on and the ski shut down. I checked the oil and that was fine. I got it home and changed the oil and filter made sure oil levels were correct. I then changed the oil pressure switch next to oil filter and the oil switch under the filter, this is a non turbo so only has the 2 sensors. I started the ski after stated repairs and still oil warning coming on and ski shutting down. I tehn kooked up a pressure gauge and have no oil pressure at all. I have not seen much about this problem on the net so I guess its no common. I will look at the oil pump where is that located? someone hasd also said maybe pressure relief valve stuck? thanks looking forward to getting back on the water

UPDATE. I remove the oil tank to find that the oil pump had seized up. I then removed the stator housing to see what else was going on and found the impeller gear on the oil pump shaft that hooks to the crank shaft was broken off. This really sucks the ski has less than 100 hours on it. Not sure why this would happen. I thinl i need new back oil pan piece as the aluminum has deep gauge from oil pump. Anyone know who has used oil tank for 05 aquatrak non turbo?

Damn, dude, I guess there is a bright side: because of the 'wisdom' of the ECM, your engine didn't lunch itself. Wonder if the failure was caused by some sort of foreign material introduced with the oil? As I'm sure you've observed, eBay has a continuing stream of parts for these puppies. BTW, I would be very surprised if the turbo/na oil pumps differ. Resort to Honda microfiche might answer that question: http://www.discounthondaparts.com/fi...ion_detail.asp

Yes very happy it threw a code or engine would be toast. I change the oil pump and the housing where the pump attaches. I am not sure why this happened just bought the ski. Oil pressure is good now thanks. got housing from ebay and bought new pump from dealer

I'm having this exact problem, I swapped out both sensors, swapped oil and oil filter and the problem persists. The ski seemed fine when I bought it and then two days later it started doing this.

Anyone got a lead on how I can get a manual oil-pressure reading? Is this done at the single or double-wire (high pressure) sensor?

My ski (r12x) runs fine at ~5k or under, usually doesn't throw the code until WOT.

OP did you have to pull the motor to get to the oil pump?

                OLD POST...

I'm having the exact same problem... everything checked/replaced and mechanical oil gauge installed. @3500 RPM barely reads 22 PSI out of 43 PSI expected, so I'm going to go straight to the pump replacement. I have few questions:
Did you remove the engine to perform the repairs?
If not, did you had to move the gas tank forward to make enough room for the oil tank/pump to go out?
Did you replace the screen oil filters?

                Thanks!!

Did you remove the fuel tank?

NEW OIL PUMP... that was the solution. It saved me time and money.
To work on that oil pump it is a little tight space because the gas tank. You can loose it and move it to the front or get it off.
I hate to work on tight spaces.....
