  • 1993 SC restore

Found a 1993 sea couch for $200 with title. Motor turns easily & everything seems mechanically sound. Paint, stickers, seat, and floor mats are not so good. I could really use some help. I've rebuilt 900 Zxi, 1100 Zxi, 750 SS x 2. Not ever messed with a 650 motor. Anybody ever done a rebuild on one? HELP?!?! I'm probably gonna keep her. Click image for larger version

Finally got the sea couch on the water. It revved up very high but wouldn't go but about 5mph. Then it just quit. Anyone have any ideas? This thing had 125 psi compression on both cylinders. Just finished up the outside. I'll show pics shortly. My fuel switch might be bad. HELP?!?!

Was the prop spinning? Is it the motor working now?

Yes the motor is working now. Pulled the plugs & they were brown. Bypassed my fuel switch & all seems to be better. Sounds like I almost shelled the motor. Looks like I'll be bypassing all my hull fuel switches. That seems to be a recurring problem

Good work. A friend and I recently scooped up two of these on a double trailer for a grand. His is in excellent cosmetic condition but had a blown cyl. Mine has beat decals on the front of it but runs. I am going to be cleaning mine up as well- re upholstering, turfing, etc. Ill be following your thread.

Congrats on the score. There arent many of these around any more. Took a couple of years for us to find this pair.

I can't imagine finding 2! It's been a fun build. My mom ordered AWESOME graphics that SHE picked out for it. I'll post pics when I get them on. I'm trying to find a boat trailer that I can convert into a triple ski trailer to fit my 2 & hers. There's a guy up by Tulsa that has 3 SC's on a triple trailer & they all run. It's impressive.

Exotic signs makes a kit for the SC but it is very basic. Nothing exciting. Just simple striping. Not too into it.

Mine is going to end up with no decals. The ski is clean but the decal on the front top panel was half ripped off and the one under it was gone with only the nice hard sticker reside left that had been sitting for years. Was a joy to get off.

Id replace them if someone had repros but to my knoweldge no one does. This is a ski that was kinda forgotten about in the broader scheme of things.. like the jetmate. More of a novelty now than anything.

Nooooo room. A ported 800 would be your best bet... but even then youre looking at 100hp tops with a head and pipe.

Its cramped in that rear area.

Prob is that 800 is going to cost you $1000 then $300 for the carbs, etc, etc. Its the most desirable kawi setup out there as it fits in every X2, SXI Pro, Jetmate, SC, you name it.

Im going to run my 650 with a coffman's pipe and if it ever blows up.. or if a 750 ski shows up on craigslist for $200, I'll put a 750 in it. I cant justify dumping money into this thing. Bad enough I have to re upholster it and touch up a few areas on it.

Here are pics of ours if youre interested:

A buddy of ours bought two more for the same price we paid about a week after we found ours. His were both very clean and one was a runner. I think the other was just a hull but a pink one and very clean.

This is the graphics kit my mom picked. She's 66. And the 650 pushes that thing plenty fast for her Click image for larger version
