I have a 03 STX and the EMM coolant line at the stator gets clogged often. Has anyone "T"ed off the feed line from the pump and go straight to the emm? Would this work?

How about installing a strainer in the cooling water inlet hose? A Groco WSB-500 works well.'15 Kawi Ultra 310X

I incorporated an independent cooling line for my EMM a few years back. Here is a diagram someone else posted on PWCtoday, which is exactly how I did mine. As Steve said, this will not solve your problem of clogged cooling fittings. You should have a filter log on top of your jet pump to screen larger debris. Do you ride in salt water? If so, do you flush the cooling system after every ride? That's a good filter he recommended for the fine particles.

The hose ID is 6 mm. I used a 1/4 inch brass barb'd tee. I purchased it on Amazon for $5 or 6 bucks (Interstate Pnematics FBT44). You may also need a brass 3/8 inch to 1/4 inch reducer (for the EMM exit hose) depending on what size thru hull fitting your using. I used an aftermarket one, which has a 3/8 inch nipple.2001 Kawasaki STX1100 DI

Pardon me while I revive a 5-year old thread but I just received Riva Racing's filter kit in the mail today to do this mod. Their kit includes the WSB-750, not the 500 -- same principle but larger filter -- along with mounting bracket and an assortment of 3/4" fittings with different sizes of straight and right angle barb. I've already got 10' of 1/2" braided clear PVC hose, a 1/2" brass T, and a 2nd OEM pisser which I've already begun installing on the port side (opposite the factory pisser on the starboard side).
Anyway, my understanding of the diagram up above is that I tee off the cooling line TO the stator, connect that to the EMM, have the line FROM the stator go into where the output from the EMM is currently going, and then reroute the output from the EMM to its dedicated pisser (is that really the technical term for it?).
Should I install the filter BEFORE the T so that it filters out everything entering the ski or should it be installed AFTER the T so it only filters out the cooling water going to the EMM?Comment

Filter ALL of it. That strainer will pass enough to cool the engine even if it's full of sand.'15 Kawi Ultra 310X

Yes, sir!
By the way, when I install one of those strainers, I attach the inlet hose to the tube that goes to the INSIDE of the screen. If you have it to to the outside of the screen, it can crush the screen and trash can get past it. Makes it a little harder to see trash inside it, but just take the cover off and you can see it. I carry a strap wrench to make it easier to remove the cover if it gets tight. (Hand tight with some waterproof grease on the gasket and threads seems to work fine).'15 Kawi Ultra 310X
