Kawasaki ZXI 900 no start troubleshooting

Hi Steve,

The last time it ran, on the trailer, which was back in October, it turned over and I shut it down. Next time I went to start it, 10 minutes later, it would not turn over. Now, when I press the "Start" button nothing happens, however, I can hear a faint "click" like a relay switch in the area of the trim motor.

Trying to figure this out. Trim on the '95 was a problem. Don't count on it working unless you replace everything in the box, and install the cable seal.

What exactly does it do now? Start, then die after a few seconds? Does it crank again or won't crank? I think you've got something wrong with the start switch, or starter relay, or the kill switch, or perhaps the fuse box.

Hey guys........sorry I'm late to the party. I have hours and hours into troubleshooting the non working gauges and no crank on these damn ZXi's. What the brilliant engineers at Kawi did was run the power FIRST to the trim control, and THEN out TO the e-box. When the trim module fails you get an intermittent or even no power problem at the e-box. Going down into the trim you'll find 2 bundles of wires. Jump the orange from one to the red on the other and usually everything will be back in working order including gauge lights.
