leave the ends on it and pour some gas through it, let it air dry after all the oily mess is gone

post ride maintenance and what type of water you ride in have a lot to do with it. I've put 80+hrs on two different filters

These are some of the reasons that I tend to steer the less experienced owner away from the 300...

Blow it out religiously a few times is all it takes for me to make them last!

It's to bad that they don't make it out of stainless, it would last way longer

The new ones are different and better quality. Hopefully they will last longer.

Don't get too stressed about it. It's about $150 to replace it. I've lost 3 in about 130 hours (over about 15 months). If it was a Yami or Seadoo you would likely have other cost during that time too. For example I'm sure a Supercharger rebuild on a Seadoo at 100 hours isn't cheap. We all pay about the same to keep them all running.
Don't buy from Skiworx, see here:

I would prolly say the Kawi exhaust filter inspections / replacements might be an even swap for the SD's Sc rebuild @ 100 hours... but then @ 100 hours the Kawi is due for valve maitenance, and if those valves need to be shimmed, then the cams have to come out ($$). + you prolly should start thinking about a belt change around 100 hours on the Kawi...

'Course some of it depends on who's turning the wrenches, but I have 'em both side by side and can safely say the Kawi has cost me notably more to own for sure and I'm just talkin' 'bout the routine stuff.

I agree with you on this one, my maintnance cost is higher since i have an Ultra. frequent oil change, pump bearing, now exhaust filter. does Kawi cover the filter under warranty? if so i'll be fine for 5 years

no i said ultra, i meant 260, the 300 i just got it, oil change is more 15 to 20 hrs, i know you'll fight to death to convince me that it's not true but i can tell you that out of all the buddy's i'm riding with no one had to change oil every 15hrs because it's full of gas. don't state me wrong, i like my ski and i don't try to bash kawi, but i can't wait to see if the 300 will be cheaper in maintnance. i do around 50hrs a season
