  • 2010 STX 15F - Pre Purchase Inspection Help

    Hey Everyone -

I am looking to purchase a 2010 STX15F with approximately 170 hours on it. I am pretty familiar with the STX platform (I have a 2002 STXR). Ski has been a saltwater ski most of its life, appears to always have been correctly winterized (has receipts).

Is there anything specific I should be looking out for? Too many hours? It's priced pretty reasonably and there is nothing wrong with the hull.

I plan to run a compression test (if someone knew what cold numbers should be that would be great...book says 172-260). I know the KawiPerfomance pump upgrade should be done if I purchase. Any other pointers when checking it out? From what I read these are more or less fairly reliable. I won't be able to water test.

It will be hard to inspect, but I would be really careful about checking for corrosion under the exhaust manifold on both sides of blue the waterbox coupler. Also check the fuel tank for signs of rust and bad gas. Check to see if the gauge is working and if it has signs of condensation inside.
