Walbro pump is slightly fatter than the OEM. I put the Walbro in the freezer for awhile and that helped, but still wouldn't slide all the way in. I got it to work by using a 1 3/16", 1/2" drive socket. It is 40mm in diameter, the pump is 39.3mm and when I tapped the socket in with a hammer it opened the housing up. Now the pump goes in easily. The OEM plug for the electrical is not compatible with the new pump, so I cut it off and soldered/heat shrinked the connections to the new plug on the Walbro. Correct on the pilot guess, 28.5 years at two airlines (commuter and major), now too "old", retired by FAA.

No to the Part 91 flying. I did a year doing 135 flying on a Challenger 300, but their schedule was murder (8 on 6 off). You still have that Navion?

Yes, I do. Been working on it (on & off) for 3+ years. I've finally been able to get it into an enclosed hangar and hope to finish it this year.

I've got a brother-in-law that flew for SWA for 10 years and got fed up after 9/11 and all the security nonsense he was subjected to. He's over 65 now and flies a Citation for a couple of local guys. He enjoys it. Flies to Mexico a couple of times per month, as well as Colorado, Santa Fe, Pennsylvania, etc. They let his wife come sometimes, so that make it nicer.

I have my A&P license and did a little general aviation stuff several years back. When I was in school one of the instructors had a Navion he was working on. On one test flight he had a gear failure and bellied it in. He landed it smooth and wasnt hurt physically but he was pretty upset. Myself and 3 others were standing at the edge of the runway watching the whole time and couldnt do a thing.

Back to the jet ski discussion.. I changed my plugs last week. Took the ski out this weekend and did much better but still gave me trouble a few times. What I did notice is that under normal idle and accel I can hear the s/c sucking air. When its acting up I cannot. I also noticed when its acting up the engine will rev to 4-5k rpm but its not building boost. Itll do this for a bit then suddenly itll scream and go back to full power. Im starting to wonder if it could be something with the supercharger.
