when you pull the lanyard off your ski will power to everything be off? can you open it and clean it out or just replace?

When you turn on the orange switch, the display should turn on. When the 'Ski is running and you pull the lanyard, the engine stops, but display stays on for a minute or two. It shuts off, but when you re-insert the lanyard and push the start button, the display turns back on.'15 Kawi Ultra 310X
