There has been lots of posts about the MaptunerX and I wanted to build a centralized thread to compile information and make it available in one place.
Please feel free to share your experiences and ask questions. All new MaptunerX info will be posted here. Also- Riva’s tuning specialist “JESUS G” will be monitoring this thread to answer questions. I will keep this thread updated and full of exciting info as it becomes available.

Background:

Maptun Performance of Sweden manufactures the Maptuner ECU tuning device and associated software. Vtechtuned of Sweden working together with Maptun Performance brought this tuning technology to the PWC market with the original Maptuner 1. Now Riva Racing USA has joined Maptun Performance & Vtechtuned to develop the ultimate tune library for PWC and head up world wide customer support for the PWC industry. This new partnership has resulted in the launch of the MaptunerX system which can tune Sea-Doo, Yamaha & Kawasaki PWC along with providing rapidly expanding diagnostic and service features.

MaptunerX ECU tuning:

MaptunerX is extremely popular because it gives you the ability to reflash your own ECU without shipping it off for service. This is done by purchasing a MaptunerX and a Tuning License for the ski you are tuning. The MaptunerX is capable of tuning an endless amount of skis, you just need to purchase a Tuning License for each ski that you tune. In addition to Sea-Doo, Yamaha & Kawasaki watercraft, the MaptunerX is also capable of programming Ski-Doo Snowmobiles, Can-Am UTV's, ATV's and Spyders. Again, a tuning License must be purchased for each vehicle that is tuned.
A powerful feature of this system is once you purchase a Tuning License for your ski you can switch to any other available mapping at any time for no extra cost. If modifications are added to the ski simply upload a different tune to match your level of modification. If you want to flash it back to stock then it can be done within minutes at no extra cost.

The MaptunerX has become an essential tool for shops allowing them to program & diagnose their customers skis along with BRP Can-Am vehicles.
Also many individuals are buying a single MaptunerX with several Tuning Licenses so they can program their friends skis. This forums online store offers dealer bundle packs of 5 tuning licenses at at time at a big discount. See link to store above.

Tuning Licenses:
The Riva/MaptunerX Tuning License allows access to the complete Riva PWC Tuning Library. This library includes matched tunes for Riva Stage Kits and racing applications. The library also includes popular Vtech Sea-Doo tunes. It is important that you follow Riva’s list of required parts for each tune for proper engine calibration and safe operation. With the purchase of a Riva/MaptunerX Tuning License you will have full Riva Technical support. Contact [email protected] for any questions regarding your Riva/MatunerX Tuning License.

Diagnostic Functions:
The MaptunerX provides basic diagnostic functions for Sea-Doo watercraft with the purchase of a Tuning License. This includes the ability to read & clear fault codes along with a throttle position reset function. Future functionality will include more advanced Sea-Doo service features and Yamaha diagnostics.

Keep in mind the following:

1) Riva is constantly adding new tunes to this tuning Library.
2) Once a tuning license is purchased, racing customers can request access to special race tunes that are not listed in the standard library.
3) Riva offers custom tuning services for special applications.
4) These tunes & Riva’s support are only available to customers that have purchased a Riva/MaptunerX Tuning License.

If you ever had to change the throttle body you would need to reset the TPS

so how does the tunes with modifacations work? there will be a database that each user needs to choose from or do i need to contact someone for a custom tune based on modifacations?

You can also buy the optional Map Edit license for $299.95 and make adjustments yourself to any of the available tunes.

When you connect your MaptunerX with your ski it reads your skis information. You then sync the MaptunerX with the V-Tech server, it recognizes your ECU and then you will see a list of all available tunes for your ski. You then choose the tune you want and download it to the MaptunerX, go to your ski and write the tune.

I've had numerous can-am/brp products. Speedsters Mavericks Sea-Doo's and Yamaha skis and boats.

If I purchased the maptunerX to tune my '15 gtxiS, will I be able to read and check codes on the other machines without buying a license for each? That right there might help me justify the cost. 1 trip to the dealer to verify Hrs on a speedster is $150 and a day wasted.

You would need a tuning license for each of them.

Jerry im getting my maptunerX tomorrow for my new 2016 FZR I just bought and also plan on using it on my VXS, if im only starting with basic mods like exhaust, ribbon delete and air filter, what would be the best tune to start!!

Not exactly sure what you mean. If you mean can you reflash ECU to STOCK...they answer is yes. Vtech has a stock tune just like original.

If your ski already has a tune you didn't buy (like from prior ski owner), you need to contact vtech. When you buy a tune, it becomes married to the HIN (VIN).

Yes, your current tune will be saved as your stock/original tune when you read your ECU's info with the MaptunerX
V-Tech also has a truly stock file you can write back to the ECU if you ever choose to do so.
