  • Gp1800 stage 2 problems

I received my new gp and put a stage 2 kit on it and it won't run correctly. In no wake zones it loads up and fouls plugs, at wide open the plugs look like they are about to melt it's so lean. I bought the data logger to see what is going on. All the sensors show incorrect data. The temp sensors show below freezing temperatures, the rpm is double or triple what the dash says, and when I had it on the hose testing it at 4000 rpm (on dash) it shows 18-19 lbs of boost. None of that can be correct. Jesus at riva says all of this is normal. I just want it to run correctly, anybody else have issues with stage 2? Thanks

    Welcome.

Did you try loading a different tune for testing, like the Stage 1 Plus tune?

Wondering if the tune did not 'take' correctly.

I just tried that, haven't been able to water test it yet. I'm thinking it has to be the maptuner. If I get a new one, is it hard to transfer everything

Most likely you got cam timing wrong when you installed the retainers. If you didn't use a top dead center dial indicator gauge to get #1 piston at top dead center then your cam timing has a high probability of being incorrect.

Do a compression test. If your numbers are 120'ish then cam timing is wrong. You want to see 140 psi compression.

I've installed everything except for the retainers.

Please make a log file and then send it to me... the one you sent was from a SEADOO. The values in your Maptuner are correct. Once you make the log ( couple of passes is enough )I will see what is going on.

I just realized the log has to be wrong. The maptuner wouldn't allow me to retrieve my log and someone from riva said they were able to download it and that's what they sent me. The data logger had an issue at first, it had to be activated 3 times before it worked. I'll try to get a log. Thank you for your help
