just wondering if anyone is having some of the same issues i am have with the wireless emk. I have an 80 ft hose, i made a stand/ holder to keep the antenna up right to hopefully get the best signal. I change the batteries in remote every weekend. i have a 2004 seadoo rxp supercharged 215hp (runs perfect) with the dual blade impeller.

Sometimes when i have been on it 30 min or better it will sometimes kill the seadoo. it seems to me like it is getting the emk hot and faulting to off? Little unsure if i have the wire connected to the wrong side of the spark plug wire? maybe this is just something it does? No one around me has one to discuss it with and thats why i am here. I have it on level 4, i have not moved it to 5 yet i kind of want it do die when i hit the water.

any input where anyone else has the brain mounted, i used the battery holder/strap, seems to have been the easiest place without drilling fiberglass.

    Any input would be great

    thanks
    Jeremy

im in the states, Alabama, not a lot of good tech support or many people around me with them. The Facebook deal is great, thank you very much i got an email off there and emailed them, i think cutting the antenna is going to work just got to figure out exactly how to do it. thank again for your help.

Loads of people in the U.S. With them you can also try gretchen at aquafly (Texas) for help.

I have this same issue intermittingly. It is very quirky when it starts happening. It seems to be an issue with signal strength, as when it starts happening, it repeatedly happens at a longer distance away from the craft.

The very strange thing about this, is that, I have noticed that it only occurs at certain lakes and not others. For instance, it will never happen at the lake that I live at, however, I take it over to a friend's lake that is 10 miles away, and each time, I get about 40 feet away, it cuts off. Once it starts, it repeatedly happens at the location. This has happened on about 4-5 occassions. I changed the batteries repeatedly after it occurs, I changed the location of the wire antena, I put an extension on the antenna, those measures never correct the problem. However, I can take then home to my lake and it works flawless.

I have wondered about something particular to that lake this is causing signal interference....

Very good question and one I have never had a straight answer too (aren't many licence free frequencies that are global....) 2.4ghz perhaps but I think lower 840mhz range maybe

I've also heard a guy who just sets a 20 minute timer, and after every 20 minutes he makes sure to stop and restart the EMK. I thought it was an interesting solution, but it seemed to be working. He was having the same problems, it was always dropping around 30 minutes.

I know ZR will claim this is an uncommon issue, but every ZR EMK I have ever flown on (4 or 5 of them) has had issues, mainly dropping me after signal loss, and everyone I know (who isn't afraid to say they're having problems) report the same type of issues. Get a Flytronics F-4. It has a fall safe feature. If it does lose signal (which I've never experienced) it will slowly lower rpm over a couple seconds, instead of dropping you like a rock.

I’ve installed and used countless amount of Emks and the issue that I have came across is either a frayed antenna wire or incorrect installation of antenna or water retention in wires or fuses

I also have used 3 different Zapata EMK systems over the past 6 years. The first two were the latest "cable pulley" system and the last one was the EMK V2 plug and play. By far the seadoo plug and play EMK is a huge advantage in many ways because you don't have to modify the ski to use and is more precise with power on and off etc.

That being said, there is a big issue at times with Zapata EMK losing signal and dropping you straight down. Interestingly, I am CONVINCED that part of this issue must be due to signal interference from local surroundings. I use my setups to travel to various lakes all over north america, there are certain lakes and certain locations where this occurs and at other locations this is not a problem. I believe that it is due to radio signals from coast guard stations or marinas that create this. At the lake the I live, this never occurs, however, there is another lake about 10 miles away where it happens once I get about 15 feet away from the machine.

However, I will keep returning to Zapata EMK for the plug and play ability. I would love to try the Flytronics, and would in a heartbeat if it was plug and play.
