  • Does a flyboard have negative effects on a PWC?

Hi. I am keen to get a flyboard of some type & was wondering if forcing the water down the hose would hurt the PWC? I read about the vibration due to the ski having to suck the water from the lake & how a twin prop can help so I was going to get one before I get a board.
I have a 2015 310r & my dealer said they have a note somewhere that says Kawasaki does not recommend using a flyboard.

Vibration is cavitation, bad for ski and can burn prop, also fit electric bilge as Venturi won't work and skis do sink....... Other than that make sure cooling is tip top, change oil and filter more regularly and stay on top of maintence some specifics depending got ski, Kwak aren't great ( will work but consult a specialist like https://www.powerflyproducts.com/) what altitude as high altitude is an issue, doo most used and yam have the reliability, 2 stroke don't work well and 150hp recomended minimum ( 200+ ideal).

ski was designed to go through water fast when using for hydro flight ski moves slow but running high rpm, there is far less forced water going into grate hence the inducer impeller used to load the pump, helps reduce cavitation and fuel burn but will affect riding, new Zapata prop getting good reviews but may have a few quality issues.

Zapata prop not ready for Kwak yet but it could ruin the ski for riding so don't fit until cavition is a big issue, I also recommend hiring for a few hours before buying! Try the different boards the defy, jet deck and Zapata ( I have only flown Zapata )

Not sure where you are ( who operates in the area) that does seem steep for 10 min of flight, but there are often offers have you flown a board yet? Have a chat to the guys at aquafly but it's a lot of stuff to rig up for personal use.

just see no our in AUS lol, that's ?ú52 for 10 min here it's ?ú70-?ú95 for 30...... And fuel is ?ú1 a litre ish ($2 AUD)

Have not used one yet but I am getting bored of the 310 with just using it for waves & ocean riding. I am looking to broaden the use of the 310 but with a tube you need 3 people but only 2 with a aqua board.
I am leaning towards the Wataboard due to the kit being half the cost of others.

Fly before you buy! For $109 just go and try it if you like it then consider buying a board

If you're bored jumping waves, you're not doing it right!

While I recommend you have a throttle operator while, learning and some sort of safety cover at all times while flying you don't need a second person on the ski.....

Just read on facebook about a Yam VXR (1800cc NA motor) on 800 hours of flyboard use and then an RXP215 on 800 hours....

So maintenance is the key the VXR gets oil and filters every 50 hours and plugs every 75 apparently

I'm just commenting on this thread so that I can receive updates. Particularly because of the lack of cooling water flow has started to have its negative side-effects on chronic heating issues inside the engine bay, causing parts to get hot.

RPM for RPM, I would naturally think the coolant flow is the same if not slightly increased with the flyboard, considering it will add more overall pump discharge back pressures, thus increasing the psi on the coolant line supply intake.
HOWEVER, and that’s a big however . . . if a coolant system shortfall does indeed exist, I’d speculate rpm for rpm the flyboard keeps the engine under significantly more load/torque, thus possibly overwhelming the oem coolant system design. We have to remember, skis weren’t designed for flyboards - rather flyboards were design for skis. So along these lines, again, I’m just speculating sake of discussion . . . if there are real heat issues on some skis, it would make sense that future flyboard product also include coolant system augmentation kit as part of the conversion.
