What do you guys think they will do with the new 342 hp runabout? Will they let it run in stock? Or bump it to limited or open class?

HydroSpace Runabout - APBA & IJSBA Rules

I'm almost betting they bump it up, if it's pushing 76 or so in stock then even just a decent rider could stomp everyone. -
i am willing to be they don't homologate it for the simple fact that is has almost 1000cc's more displacement than the current 4 stroke rules allow.
even in the anything goes gp class it is still 600 or so cc's over the current legal limitComment

If it proves reliable and you can make it run in the ugly water it might make a pretty killer endurance boat. Ahhh speculation is so easy.Matrix-two of them, because sometimes one just won't do.

In limited and GP class on the European tour (only 5 races) the limit is 2300cc for N/A machines. The rumor says this is all N/A machines, hard to belive.
If the 2 smaller version are N/A they can compete in runabout 800 because they allow more cc on four strokes against 2-stroke, the can not compete in Runabout 1200 stock because they are 12 kg to light (260 kg), rule book says minimum 272 kg on 4-strokes.
Hydrospace are not stupid, they have manufactured skis that will fit into to classes one way or another, even if they have to make their own classes. Otherwise they have to pay someone to change the rulebook. I dont think they have given us all info yet....STX15F Stock edition

but now they are taking all the skill out of racing and it has become he who has the deepest pockets wins the race.Comment

but when you make the purchase price such that only the elite few can afford it, what does that say about the sport... that it is a rich mans game?
and just because it is the biggest and fastest doesn't always mean it will win.Comment

The inital thoughts from the IJSBA are that it will not be allowed to complete with the large 2.1L engine. Someone asked Frazier at the World Finals what they plan to do about it an he basically said that if the HYDOSPACE comes out for real like the pre-release info we have then it would not be allowed to race.
We will see soon enough....Comment

the new Yamaha has 1800cc supercharged, if I remember correctly and now the HS has 2200cc.
i realy hope that the IJSBA will make them race legal since this is a company finally making skis ready to race.
I don't agree about the deep pockets. obviously speed costs money and more speed costs more money, but how much do you need to spend to go faster with a Yamaha or Sea Doo or Kawa???
their smaller ski is almost half the price than the biggest one.
anyway, I can't wait to see one live and if I have the leftover cash, I might buy one and sell my RXP including all the things I needed to do to it (and pay for) to make it go right.
cheersX
