I found a 99 TS1100r ski for sale on craigs list- the guy is willing to take $300, which is what he paid for it. Says he bought it to fix up- claims the guy he bought it from had it running but had some other small things to fix. Says he has no time for it and his wife wants it gone. Pretty common story- so he sent me some pics, looks pretty clean- still shiney red, not really faded and gauges look good- only a few holes in the seat. Motor looks dirty- but appears to all be there. The ski is just sitting on the ground in the pics- no trailer They guy lives nearly 2hrs away- I like the way these skis look for sure- and 135hp is alot for a ski of this size. I have a Stage 2 GP1200r now- and was looking for a new toy. What do you guys think- is it worth my time? What should i be worried about? My main concern is if the jetpump is locked up- on 1200r's stock they have a stainless liner that get salt under it and locks it up- but im looking at pics of the 1100r liner and it looks like solid aluminum? Im thinking that worse case i cound part it out and make some money? The price alone makes it hard to pass up- but parts might be hard to find, only plus is theres a jet ski shop i know of that has 100's old school parts skis laying around- im sure he would have what i need. Any thoughts- Thanks guys

Did the same thing a couple years ago,Few things to keep in mind dealing with the 1100 R imo....If you need a crank your most likely not going to get one at anything close to a reasonable price, very few places will rebuild one and if they do its going to be $700-$1000.A good used one if you can find one will be $500-600.Most guys in need of a crank will just send their 1100 crank out to be rebuilt as an 1000,(rods are the only difference)and use the wiesco 4mm over 1000 piston kit (85mm),1100 motors are 85mm std bore.Still not a cheap option about $700-800 for a rebuilt 1000 crank and new 85mm wiesco set.Personaly i bought 3 of these skis and made 1 ski kept the rest of the parts for extra's so i wouldnt have an issue finding anything later on.Then just cut up the other 2 hulls and threw them away.I have 2 motors one an 1100 crank and factory pistons, and 1 with the 1000 crank and wiesco 85mm pistons.Imo the wiesco motor sounds better, i dont notice any seat of the pants difference in power though.so either option works just as well.
Carb's are also unique to that ski and can be a bitch to find,(rebuild kits are easy to get)other parts can be hard to find as they made the ski for just the one year, but they are out there just might take a bit of looking on e-bay ect to find what you need. The wear ring has the same issue's as the Yamaha you talked about not sure if its more or less any different than any Kawasaki or Yamaha in regards to how often the problems happens though.
New parts are around at some artic cat dealers but be aware some of the parts can be a bit steep.Fun little ski to ride, doubtful you will be keep up with your 1200R though. Its a true 60 mile per hour ski mine GPS ed at 61.6 in very light chop at sea level 80 degrees.Low end is a little weak imo.at least compared to my STX R.
If you buy it and need anything let me know i can point you in the right direction,i have some parts that i have several of that you welcome to if you need them.08 Ultra 250x grn/wht

So i got the ski- I got a great deal, cosmetically its in great shape- just need the seat recovered and its faded on the bottom half of hull, in the water line. But the graphics and color on top are pristine- mechanically wise its looking real good, pump and motor turn by hand, heads and pistons look great- cant check compression yet, but on the exhaust stroke with heads off it sounds good. The reeds look like new and the carbs look great inside, just some white corrosion in the neck of carbs- nothing a sonic bath wont cure i think. It is missing the starter, and will need a engine gasket kit and carb kit- i will be removing the engine and inspecting it, along with deleting the oil injection. Electricaly i can hear the starter solenoid working, the bilge is working but the trim is not- does the craft have to be running for the trim to work? The exhaust is a pain in the ass to get off- any secrets? So i think i got a great deal- and i cant see me having any much more than $1000 total in this ski, and thats with getting a trailer for it. I was thinking that if i can find some piston rings, i might as well put them on while i have it apart, any idea where i can find some rings?
