  • Battery Improvement

Well I got tired of having to worry about just how strong my battery was going to be when it was time to fire it off. The engine compression is higher than normal, coupled with the PVL needing every ounce of power it can get and a bud blowing a coupler hose I decided to do something about it.
I decided to run a BRP battery, the cranking capacity went from 310 to 560 and 610 if you run with the gel battery.
I cut the back section of the tray and slid the battery back into place and tested for fitment.
After covering the battery in wax paper I sprayed the filler inbetween the battery and battery box.
Modified cover fit just fine on the new battery and I was able to use the factory tie down.
The exhaust pipe fits perfectly into place and it fires off in what seems to be 1 revolution.
Best thing I've done so far.

That was a killer tip, one thing I noticed, if you don't leave the paper flat and it has folds and wrinkles the foam gets in there and holds the paper.
Needles to say, those tiny pieces have a new home in the boat. LOL
Oh, somebody asked what I used for foam and worried about it acting like a sponge.
I used an exterior Polyurethane Sealant called Touch 'n Foam (in black).
It says it's "ideal for ponds and waterfalls", "superior adhesive for landscaping projects", "expands and fills voids".

      Perfect or what???

The battery is huge and weighs a few pounds (one reason I didn't go with the gel).
Then I got to thinking, the weight of the pipes and waterbox are all on the left, fill them with water and it gets pretty heavy.
I probably could have gone with the heavier battery and still been good.
Maybe another reason I feel faster to the left than the right?

Velcro tie straps are sold in some hardware stores, outdoor outfitters, etc.

The OEM battery hold down straps are just Velcro double sided, hooks on bottom and fuzzy fabric on top surface.

That's true is was gonna anchor in a jumper cable like the virage into the foam and put a hook on the engine side. Velcro will be easier.

Polaris Matrix Triple Pipes. They were sourced from Factory Pipe Products in California for the Polaris Matrix 200, slated for release as a Polaris production ski in 2005. They suspended their watercraft division before any of the 2005 models made it to the showroom floors.

Only if the engine is converted to carburetor.
