  • Polaris sl 780 no spark!

    Hey guys,
i just rebuilt my entire ski (polaris sl 780) from ground up removed the engine form the hull and fully rebuilt everything this morning when i tried to fire it up it starts for half a second and dies so i used my spark plug tester and no spark then sudenly just a spark but then nothing again what might be the problem ? i removed all wires from ebox and everything is color coded so there where no mistakes in the ebox or is there something i need to know ? ( yes i did put the lanyard in) im also low on fuel can that be the problem for no spark?
    new mounts
remove oil pump to go premix
    block off plate
    all new fuel lines
    new spark plugs and wires

    Thank you for any help

Low fuel will not prevent spark, but may limit operation to around 4k RPM.

Ensure that you have a ground connecting the electrical box halves together. The stock stator harness accomplishes this with two ring terminals.

What did you replace the plug wires with? Did you keep the OEM plug boots? They have a specified resistance that needs to be maintained. Also, the connection of the plug wires at the coils and plug boots may be suspect. make sure you can see the plug wire connector at each wire end, and that the wires are firmly pushed into and screwed into the coils and boots. Suggest re-securing the wires into the coils with adhesive.....

Also, the CDI will let off an intermittent spark when the lanyard is not in, or when the kill switch is active. Double check the operation of the kill switch. Try starting the ski with the black/yellow wire on the CDI removed from the circuit board.

Make sure the battery is delivering a strong enough voltage while cranking.

So you tested the kill switch to make sure it is functioning? You verified that is connected properly? You tried running the ski with the black/yel disconnected from the circuit board? If yes to all, need to check you stator readings via an ohm test. IF they test out good, need to replace the CDI.
