The skis are in the garage during this if that matters....

    Bummer
When you 'tried to do the reset' did everything go as it should? Meaning the reset procedure went correctly?

    • Would not the light still blink even if the ribbons were pulled ? They are for mode and set ? The ones i get the cooper on the ribbon is eroded,i am trying to make a fix for that ,but if the unit gets power and everything else is good wouldnt the light blink.? I would be in over my head at that point just had that question to see if worth trying to repair ribbon. Thx.

Some MFD do not wake up automatically (flash the red lamp for a few seconds) when power is supplied. On those versions you must press a button to wake up the display, or feed it an RPM signal via Yellow wire.

I have a test jig that allows me to feed every possible signal into the MFD. When I switch on the power feed some MFD wake up right away, but others will sit there with no visible display until I send an RPM signal or press one of the MFD buttons.

I have never found a reliable way to repair damaged ribbon cables behind the sealed dome buttons on an MFD. The ribbons are quite fragile and the conductive stripe layer is very, very thin.

              I agree.

The ribbon cables are quite thin...more of a conductive coating. If I had to try that I would probably desolder the junctions and try to do with new small wires directly from the boards. Not simple.

              That's a real ouchie.

              • I just registered with the Greenhulk site just to say, Thanks!

                I have a Polaris SLT780 that had a very garbled/scambled display. I followed the advice/walkthrough on this forum/post.

                EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT advice!

All I can say is read and re-read this post several times over, follow the instructions and you won't have a problem.

My display is back to showing very dark, very legible digits.

I want to say, Thank you to everybody here! You saved me from buying an expensive (and even used) display for my aging Polaris!

                • Hello all, new to the boards and just got my first ski. 1996 SLTX. The MFD "works" but only displays the incorrect time and incorrect fue level. After pressing the mode button it will flash CAL with the red led and then fall back to clock mode. The ski has been sitting unused for a few years... thanks for any help

                  • Does it wake up when the engine is turned over?

If you yank the plug wires so it won't run does it display RPM as the motor is cranked?

                    • Sometimes it won't do anything when the motor is cranked. It will just stay on the time unless I mash the mode button. Yet every now and then it will start, flash the led and aforementioned CAL XXXX, "00" on the speedo, and then flip back to the time. It also would seem if the SET button is stuck/disabled. It is unresponsive.

                      • Basically when I start and run the ski it stays on clock mode unless I press MODE and then it says CAL and right back to time. I'm gonna try replacing the fuse and cleaning the connection. As well as the 'reset' button sequence posted by K447

                        • In that case it sounds like it is not getting the pulse signal back from the E-box. I think this is the Yellow wire, so bust the E-box open and check continuity from there to the wiring to the MFD.

The MFD should switch to showing RPM any time the motor is spinning.

                            • Hi,
Anyone have information on pressure transducer in mfd for sl750? My mfd only show 0mph.
There is so few information on it as i am not sure if i should dismantle it (the transducer) or it is something else.
Anyone knows what principle does it use? What are the voltages that it should output? I could measure that on the small 4 pin internal connector it does receive 9.7V on pin 1 and 3 and output about 4.xV on other two pins. But the output does not change if i apply 5 to 20 psi on the outside of mfd pressure connector.
Also, does the mfd display the speed with the engine off ? (to test it on bench with only 12V and pressure sensor connected)
                              Thanks.

                              • I know this thread is old, but thanks to everyone who contributed to it over the years. I just got the MFDs on both of my skis functioning again by following this procedure. I used the pull saw instead of the Dremel and had each of them apart and repaired in less than 10 minutes.
