I agree,the screw in adaptor is nice,Just didn't have one,so I grabbed the magnet stand and bolted a extra small steel plate with a head bolt on, Bingo,I was good.I can send you my set up if you want,but shipping would run what it costed.

You find a sparkplug hole adapter like the one that comes with the one SLP has, and I'll buy from there!
Using one screwed right into the spark plug hole works so much slicker than jacking around with a standLeave a comment:

I need to time a 1200 also, and would much rather do so when it's on the bench!
The '99+ hull looks like it's gonna suck to adjust if I have to keep adjusting the flywheel in the hull!

The Polaris service manual doesn't list any # for static timing at all, the same # came up on three skis I checked non-fuel injected 1200's.
the Polaris cdi is strictly a retard unit. if the trigger happens at 23 btdc how can it fire at 35 btdc???

Were is the Documentation that states .350 is the number for static timing (the magic #) for the 1200.I haven't found it in the service manual searching yet.

i've also got a chopped stator cover,uses 2 bolts to hold just a small part over the bendix to keep it in place,that way you can access right to the allen bolts to time it if need be with out taking the cover off and on back and forth,just trickle some oil down the carb throats an run it long enough to see itLeave a comment:

dial indicator
as you rotate the crank back and forth from tdc to btdc its easy to actually go a full revolution on the dial, 25 degrees or 40 degrees.
but you have to go past 40 degrees BTDC to reset the trigger sensor every time so as to trip it properly in the direction of running rotation.Last edited by K447; 07-26-2013, 07:48 AM.Leave a comment:

light or volt meter moves when the piston reaches .350" before tdc in direction of rotation,you gotta count needle revolutions and always back rotate past so ypu are approching the trigger in the direction of running rotation.the trigger goes way before 25 tdc.the cdi is retard unit.by triggering it at 40 the cdi is always taking away timing .no way a cdi unit can fire before its triggeredLeave a comment:
