  • 2000 Polaris Pro 1200

Background: I bought this ski and trailer about 7 months ago for a total of $700, including the gas to pick it up. I was told it was stored inside a storage unit but then I went to look at it it was outside. I was also told it had 65 hours on it and all it needed was fuel lines and a battery. It has not been ran since 2004.

Now: I looked over the ski when I first got it home and started to find all the issues. The seat is damaged, the trim box is missing the seal and nuts, the electrical box is missing the seal and bolts, the front hood is cracked, there are cracks in the hull where the seat goes, gas tank was all cracked and the gray Tempo fuel line were still there. I ran a compression test and checked for spark the other day. The numbers were MAG 150 CEN 150 PTO 142 and there was spark on all cylinders. The MFD works perfect except for the sticker.

Sorry for that whole thing, doing the compression test has peaked my interest again.

The box has latches that hold it closed not bolts. The nuts for the trim motor are just 1/4-20. Be sure to use stainless with washers. I think the gas tank is the same as one from a Pro 785. Contact John Zigler @ watcon.com for carb rebuild kits etc. Cracks can be fixed with epoxy and chopped glass. I have one of these skis and love it. You will love it too the first time you get on it. Its wicked fast!!!!

I have 3 genuine Keihin rebuild kits that run $70 each, but Ii'll sell them for $60 each with free shipping.

Or if you're interested I still have this available.

My ski says made in the U.S.A...... Can yours say that???

Thanks for the help and replies so far. I think I remember seeing a strap down by the electrical box, I just thought it would have bolts. I am currently taking to 785 lugs about parts right now. Also I am just trying to keep it stock for now, maybe looking for a ride plate. I am also thinking of going premix but after some reading I guess these oil pumps are pretty reliable.

I found the stock ride plate works great on a stock boat. It got way too light in the nose with the Hot Seat plate I had on it without the weight of the triple pipes up in the nose.

The pictures of the hull cut-outs above the exhaust pipe and MAG cylinder head are normal. One is for wrench clearance on that exhaust bolt, and the other one is there for pipe clearance when running the FPP triple pipes.

Yeah I was about to say those are factory cutouts, I recall them from my 2000 PRO1200 too (sold summer 2011)

I thought they could be factory just because they looked so clean but was also thinking someone broke them off and decide to clean them up to look better.

I am thinking I might have trim problems because someone has been messing with it. I have read the trim don't work unless the engine is running so I will test it once I get it running.

Trim WILL operate if you hold down the Bilge button at the same time (I think thats the combination, been a couple years since I had my PRO - somebody please correct me if I got that wrong)

If I run premix do I need to rejet my carbs? I have been reading and get mixed answers. Some say yes, some say no and some say it depends on the ski.

I personally would not run premix the oil pumps are reliable.
