I can't leave the Cane alone either

Well, I guess the Hurricane project is done. I rode it 5 times and the last two times it cut out and died going WOT after a very short burst. The top of the pistons look fine. I'm guessing stator or dirty carbs. All you sons of bitches modding these damn Canes got me itching something awful. Boy I got the fever now...LOL Anyway, best I got out of the Cane stock was 47 to 48 Mph is that good or bad? The bottom of my hull is trashed. The first owner must have been a idiot. I need to get my a$$ to the lake this weekend and determine if the Cane's problem is electrical or not. It's on a stand at the lake. It's much more fun towing running skis back and fourth.
So, to anticipate dirty carbs, I have the first two mods ready to go, unless better advice tells me other wise.

I got these from Del a while ago. They are part no. 1253202 and should be 40's off 1998 to 2000 SLH and SLTH models. They have factory 142 main's with 68 lows. The cane's 38's have 155's and 70's. The center of that magazine article states that they are 40's. I don't have a sales brouchers for any of those years. Stock 40's should be good for now? Oh almost forgot I did say two mods waiting to go.

OK, so for mod number three I have to yank my ride plate off the Parts Cane and ship it to Mick who will hopefully have great things to say about his new plate mod after he test it, and for mod number four I need to find somebody that can do a great job hacking two inches out of my exhaust pipe. Anybody? I may have to talk to my old boss that guy can do anything.

I'm hoping that's what it is. I can't work on it at the lake to save my life. Every time I take the seat off some jerk comes ripping by to close to shore in a power boat and the damn wave splash right in the engine compartment. I'm going to hopefully rule out electrical as a possibility tomorrow. I figure if I got to take it home and yank the carbs. Why not slap in the V-forces and the 40's

what exactly needs to be done? I'm itching for something to do now that I can't ride the skis.

If you went with aftermarket reed assemblies you will notice the bolt holes do not line up with holes on the reeds, you'll need to relocate so you can mount them.
If you purchased just the reeds then disregard my comment.

One from Chopper City Sports and the other from Hotseat at $139 each. I sold them years later on ebay for around $80 each and called it a loss. The things are just too damn loud for around here.
