How about a pic of the pipes you have? Curious to see what make they are.

The list of go fast parts is piling up. Hot Seat sponsons-decal for Rifle bore carbs ( the holes on right side were typically for tripple fuel pumps) wide handle bars.

Left is the "old" one, Right is the "new" one.
I assume these are aftermarket?
Here are the holes in the side I was referring to. Right side of the ski, as you are sitting on it.
This needs to be cleaned up, but at they obviously were aware of the structural issues. And about that tee being blocked off, also part of cooling system mods?
Hmm, I assume this was for some sort of aftermarket trim system? Or is this part of the cooling system that was removed?
Here's the pipes, looks like more cooling system shenanigans? Unfortunately, it appears that my dumb-ass let the front of the ski fill up with water, and it's frozen solid. So I can't see where else the hoses are going. Are those reducers I'm seeing there?
Just some random extra "stuff" that came with it:
Obviously there's no mods done to the pump.
Looks to be the "stock" R&D intake, can't really identify the ride plate.
Edit: added a couple more driveline pics/narrative.Last edited by pascoea; 12-17-2022, 12:45 PM.

Yes, aftermarket bars.
Aftermarket carbs were mostly Mikuni based design but IIRC none had fuel pumps built in/attached to carbs,so they used 2 or 3 remote fuel pumps. Being bolted that low-to keep pulse hoses short- I would guess they had a plate that pumps were atttached to.
The water exit hose usually has molded curve at the exit. Yours looks to be a straight peice of hose for a repair, guesing the "T" was a quick/dirty fix.
IIRC the Pro didn't have the "syphon" style bilge hoses. But the Pro did have the pump stator mounted to the base, theimpeller sat in the base. If they needed to replace the base, might have the used the more common type with syphon.
The typical added trim were "trim tabs", Would see some signs of being bolted to rear of hull. Typically would have something/lever style bolted to the left side of handle bars.
Look to be some sort of restricters going to the pissers. Some times they changed temp of the pipes for different tuning.
Yes looks like stock "style" R&D grate. I think the Polaris ones had a part # ????
Looks to be the Hotseat rideplate ?

Casey pretty much nailed it.
On your cooling system question at the pump base, you do have 1 siphon hose installed. It's the yellow/transparent hose that goes all the way to the top of the seat and back down. One end attaches to the barbed fitting and the other end should have a screen that sits on the bottom at the rear.
However, I think you're asking about the hole. That would be where your cooling tube comes through the hull and feeds water to the engine. My ski says made in the U.S.A...... Can yours say that???

For the balsa wood, just look for any deep gouges or any bumps or blistering, especially below the waterline. IIRC only the lower hull has balsa, the rest doesn't.(2) 98 Pro 785 - 90 Superjet 650 (coffman exhaust, etc) - 95 750 SXI (R&D exhaust, ported, polished, etc)

Unfortunately for the aftermarket carbs, all I have left are the "Riflebore" stickers, but that does make sense about the fuel pumps being mounted there. Either way, the stockers are going back into this one, so all they are to me are two more holes needing to be epoxied shut.
There aren't any signs of holes/equipment for trim tabs. My original though when I saw that hole, and the removed trim unit, was that they had an auto-drop type of nozzle trim installed and removed. But that doesn't appear to be the case. It makes perfect sense why that hole is there, and I feel dumb for asking, now that I know the answer.
I believe xlint is correct, below, on the siphon. The parts manual lists the equipment for a single siphon/drain.
I'm going to assume you're right on the restrictors and other cooling routing. I guess we'll see this spring when I finally get to dig these out of the snowbank and actually work on them! (If you can't tell, I'm a little antsy to get after it, lol.)

I should have titled this thread, "help me figure out what I actually have", lol. I remembered seeing these when I tore down the motor, and it didn't match what was on the Polaris parts website.
These appear to be a Moto Tassinari V-Force Delta 2 type, but looking at the pics they are going to need to be redone. (3rd pic, top "inside" petal) I can't get the Moto Tassinari website to work, can anyone confirm if these are the right replacement petals? I've found references to Part Number 2P127-1 (Moto Tassinari) and DP110-1 on this (for example) site seems to indicate proper fitment as well.
My google-fu on the part number (?) stamped on the bottom of the cage (DM131) came up empty.

Lugs 785 has had sooo many 785's, it's strange to see a "stock" ski.
Yeah, the V-force are so common, should have been factory.
Sorry, can't help on the versions or parts. IIRC all Fuji engines used the same reeds, even the snowmobiles. Might be able to match them up at a snow shop.

So not really related to my 785 project, but still figured I'd share a chuckle. One of the parts I wanted from the SLX I bought last summer was the stator. From the pics, it looked complete, but when I got home I was a little peeved to find that the prior owner had cut the harness.
This ski has been taking up space in my garage since this fall, I've slowly been harvesting parts and chopping up/throwing away what I didn't need. I came across this gem this afternoon as I was finishing hacking the ski up.
Now I kinda feel bad for the prior owner. I wonder how long they were chasing electrical issues with this machine.
(If you can't tell, that's what I believe to be the stator harness pinched between the starboard footwell and its support.)
I guess that explains why they cut the harness... Oops.
