Usually the year is printed on the back side of the magneto. 75W94
75 meaning it was from a 750
W stands for watercraft
95 is the model year
However, the problem is it's written in an ink. And that ink does wear off if the magneto has been handled a bit.
In the service manual it appears the 1993 (analog) magneto had 5 male bullet connectors and 2 female. 1994/95 magnetos had 4 male bullet connectors, 2 female, and 2 eyelets for grounding.
Other than that, I do not know how to test for analog VS digital signal?
I do know the analog will work, if installed for a little while, but it will most likely fail. I had used my original 650 magneto (all 650 magnetos are analog) when I did a 780 conversion on my SL. It worked for quite a few outings, but it did eventually fail and needed to be exchanged.
Was it due to the incompatibility of digital and analog, or was it just done due to age? I can not say for sure. But, in the service manual, there is a note stating SL 650 CDI is not interchangeable with SL 750 digital ignition parts.
