Polaris Freedom 700 starter

After i replaced the stator the starter bendix is now getting bonded up on the flywheel. i have to pull the flywheel to get it unstuck. Any ideas to why this is happening?

There are very thin washers at the front and rear? of the bendix, did you mix them up ?
Are you using a gasket on the cover ? I've seen the cover being too close when just using silicone.

Debris in the bendix ?

i will check on the shims. Hey i found this in the bottom of the ski when i pulled the engine. would you happen to know where is came from?

in the cover, it pushes the bendix towards the back of the housing.

thanks for the replies. the starter is back working. now i have another problem it is not charging. how do you test the recitifier regulator?
