Chad, You should post this in the General Q/A section as this is for document and technical data.

Polaris SL 780 oil pump question

Got a SL 780 recently which smokes a lot. Wanted to check the oil pump adjustment and the linkage length is ok. What bothers me is that the Clymer manual states that if the linkage comes out by accident, the pump will go to max, which is anti-clockwise viewed from starboard side due to the spring.

The linkage however rotates the pump CLOCKWISE as the throttle opens, so actually giving less oil ? Can anyone help clear the confusion please ? What is the correct position for the links to the pumps shaft and why is there no idle alignment mark ?

                Thanks !

Any chance anyone has some CDI curve charts for the 650, 750, 780, 785, and the rev limit on them?

                  Thanks,

                        95 SL750 CDI diagnosis

I replaced the stator in a 95 SL750 given to me because of a stator wire meltdown.

It is reassembled and it has no spark:
The stator coils all have the correct impedance.
The ignition coils have the correct impedance in primary and secondary.
(I have manual and checked these.)
There is no suggested tests on CDI.

Does anyone know how to diagnosis a CDI box?

It is either the CDI or I screwed up the wiring (unlikely because everything is color coded, but there is always something...)

Is there a test to check that the proper voltage is comming from the stator (during cranking) to be sure the CDI is getting the right input?

Is it common for the CDI to be fried when the stator cable melts down?

More than likely the CDI is bad. You can try contacting beerdart and see if he'll throw it on one of his test engines and see if the CDI works.

I know somebody posted that info, have you tried the tech section Fuji fuel area? I think in 94 you had the white cap and the newer nozzle and cap assembly are usually black.

I have the same problem. The ski ski runs fine, I park it and it won't start. I wait several hours and it strats and runs fine. I know something is over-heating. Suggestions?
