How to repair a Ficht fuel injection fuel pump - pressure regulator has fallen inside

    Any idea why my seal ring would not be going on easily when im trying to reinstall? It acts as if the fuel pump cannot go down far enough to thread the seal ring on, i push very hard on the top and i can get it to sortof grab the front 1/2 of the threads, but the rear doesnt grab and will dump gas out if i tip the ski on its rear/back down a ramp to put it into water... it sucks...

      Do not ever operate a PWC if the fuel tank is not 100% sealed.

      Use 2-stroke oil to lubricate the rubber seal while you work the fuel pump into place. It must be fully seated with the rubber gasket in correct position. The plastic ring must also be not cross threaded. It must be square to the fuel pump top and fully screwed down to 'quite snug' and holding the fuel pump top against the tank neck top edge.

        Thank you for this informative post....

        I just purchased a Genesis I last week.. and I just pulled things apart to double check before trying to fire up.. and sure enough.. the regulator was sitting at the bottom of the sending unit. The pics were amazing help. Thank you.

          Is there any easier way to pull the pump from a Virage TXi since the tank sits in the middle? Of course my tank was more than half full... making it very difficult to pull forward. I unbolted the EMM, moved it to the side... and disassembled the the pump into 2 sections to pull it out of the area. There just wasn't enough room or compression to pull it out. What's the normal procedure to service this pump?

            On a Virage, you want to move the fuel tank forward into the bow. There is just enough room to get the fuel canister out when the tank is pulled forward.

              I pulled it forward, but it was too heavy to fiddle around with it too much incase it got stuck... I pulled it forward enough to try and remove the canister under the steering cavity, but it just wasn't enough room.. as mentioned I disassembled that canister and did the repair and reinstalled.... got pressure now... so all is well. Glad I was paranoid and decided to check for pressure.... The low throttle cruising the other night with the backfiring was what really got me concerned. Hopefully it'll ride better now and didn't do any damage.

              I'll try to empty the tank next time if I have to work on it again.
