  • 951 DI mods??

I've got an 01 rxdi and was wondering if there is anything you can do with these ski's to improve performance or handling that doesn't effect reliability or economy too bad? Just want to know if any mods are worthwhile or if it's best just left stock.

Ive got an 03 XP DI, and the mods are kind of far and few between..
PPG makes a kit, and people say that its the dough.. comes with a head, a reprogrammed MPEM, some flame arrestors, and an impeller.. they say it gives much better mid range and all around acceleration..
other than that.. maybe some sponsons, and general gear that might be available for your hull model..

im been thinking about a new impeller, but not sure which to go with stock.. and i might consider the PPG kit sometime in the future, so im holding off on the mods for now..

I highly recommend the kit from ppg it really wakes that 951 up. On my 02 gtxdi it increased to top speed close to 5 mph and the acceleration was a hug difference. It really woke that big boat up. Great people to work with also.
UNISHIPPERS is the source to ship motors, skis, etc. Call I can probably set you in the right direction.

sell the 01 and get an 02 or 03 and then mod the newer ski. The 02+ version of the di has a good bit more performance right out of the box and doesn't require 91+ octane.

Why leave the motor alone? Is there some common issues to run into? I haven't done much with seadoos. I picked this up with no motor and built it last winter for my girlfriend and she loves it. I've got an ultra 150 that I'm alot more familier with and have done everything possible with. I'm not really sure I want to do much if anything to the rx it's super dependable and doesn't use much fuel. I just wanted to see what was available and pros, cons, and opinions on what can be done with it.

I looked at their website, did you get the kit with the head, mpem, impeller, and flame arrestors?

Ive been wondering what propr to get.. in the "ben's" thread, he says solas concord 15/20.. bar none..

but I see others are going with 15/23's, and different manufacturers..

Anyone know where the rev limiter kicks in on the DI's? or where the top of the power band is?
I *think* the stock impeller is 15/21 .. is that correct? (or it may be on mine.. not sure of other hulls.. )
I turn about 6800-6900 depending on conditions.. 6850 on 93 fuel, 6950 on 89 octane.. and it appears that about 7 grand is where it tops when i come unhooked on chop at speed..(i close the throttle as soon as i notice.. )

I would also like to know what a good prop choice would be, the right prop makes so much difference! I always run solas in my kawi but for this ski I have no idea. Any advice?

As far as prop I dont recall what i got from PPG. Rpms too long ago since I rode it to help. Call them and they will st you straight. If you can get Glen tell them john from Kansas told you to call. On mine they sent me the prop and I rode it and then sent the prop back with info on rpms and gps speed and they repitched it and sent it back. the repitch was included in the cost.

A 13/19 or 14/20 Dynafly and an Adjust-A-Thrust will get you more low end and midrange plus a little on the top end and you don't have to mess with the motor at all.

+1. Always saw good results with the AAT.

What would you say would be the normal expectation of improvement from using an AAT on the 951 seadoos?
