  • I can turn the supercharger wheel by hand

I think I know the answer to this but, that means the charger is FUCT right? I've been chasing some vibrations and I was exploring something wrong with the pump and/or wear ring and my ski doesn't seem as fast as it was. I took off the intake boot for the supercharger and I found oil in the intake boot and oil in the inlet bore of the charger and I can turn the impeller wheel with my fingers. It doesn't freewheel but with slight effort, I can spin it.
    Is it broke?

Sounds like the clutches are toast.

Probably the reason the noise I was hearing here:

and then the corresponding reason why it wouldn't go after I put it back together here:

      Damn

The oil is normally from crankcase vapors...the wheel should NOT spin by hand. Warranty?

Nope, I got it used with no warranty. It's a 2008. An X-wheel would fit in there too wouldn't it? Would I have to mod anything else? Guessing the computer would have to know that there's more boost?

The X wheel won't fit in a 215 housing. If you add an X charger, you'll need 42# injectors at a minimum..... considering everything else is stock?

I was back in there trying to guage to describe how tough it is to turn and it turns fairly easy about 1 full turn and then it gets tough to move but I can still move it but just barely. It will then spin back the other way easy until it gets to the same spot and then same thing. IDK. weird.

Pull it to see whats going on! You shouldn't be able to turn it with your fingers.

Should be completely stationary with no free motion to be able to spin it with my fingers at all correct?

No...you should be able to move the blades maybe a 1/16-1/8 of an inch with your finger tips.

You should feel just a slight amount of movement, and that's in the gears..... but there is no way you should be able to spin it with your fingers when the clutch slip is set properly!

And with some considerable force you WILL be able to spin the supercharger impeller over by hand due to the gear reduction. Watch your drive shaft when you turn the supercharger impeller. If it's turning then you are actually spinning the engine over by turning the SC impeller. If the drive shaft is not turning then you are making the clutch slip.

If you can spin the supercharger impeller over with just one finger and freewheel it then the washers have failed.

I can spin it this far with very little force and then it gets to where it's a little tough on the fingertips to continue. I marked the impeller with a black marker and I found that the driveshaft turns the whole time.

Looks like the washers are slipping or about to go. Pull that thing out of there and inspect.
