  • Slip is low on charger

    Hey guys,

I was going to put a kanaflex intake on my boat today and i found that my charger (08 RXT - 30 hours) has low slip, with some resistance i can turn the wheel on the charger. Am i safe to run it today before i take it apart tonight to send to Jerry? I ran it since 24 hours (what it had on it when i bought the boat) with no problems, just slightly low RPMs. I bought it from a dealer so i'm definitely going to call and see if they'll give me any support as they told me that they 'checked the supercharger' when they bought it, and it certainly isnt right! LOL

    Thanks guys!

You can turn the charger wheel slightly while its in the ski..This doesnt necessarily mean your slip is low..the only way to tell if your slip is low is to put a torque wrench to it...with only 30 hours on it i would say you will be fine to run it...

One way to tell if it is slipping is to run at around 6000 rpm for a while, then punch it. If the ski acts like it is hesatating, then the washers are slipping. Both of mine did that when the charger started to slip.

My PX with just stg1 mods started slipping at around 30 hrs. TX went to almost 100 hr before it started slipping.

I bet your slip isn't abnormally low you're just spinning the whole engine by hand like I did. Read this thread to see if you have the same thing going on:

Post #13 by greenhulk was right on. My driveshaft was spinning. If I were you, I would put a piece of wood or plastic in the back of the jet pump nozzle and then see if you can turn it by hand counterclockwise and check the slip moment with a torque wrench turning it the same way. It should be somewhere near 80 INCH POUNDS which isn't very tight at all IMHO. I wouldn't take the charger off, just check it on the machine

What size nut is it, and where can i get a torque wrench that measures in inch pounds for a good price?

Rode it today, i didnt check my speed cuz it was busy and choppy as fuck, but i was pulling 150-200rpm than i was before I did the intake. pretty good results i am happy! Going to take the resonator out this week I think, is there a gain to be had from that?

Only thing that will increase is the noise.
