PRV system

Going to install a pressure relief valve system but I noticed some guys running a ball valve to shut water line down. What is the purpose or reason behind this and do I need to add that or can I install just the check valve with hoses to pump tunnel... Thanks guys

First I have ever heard of a ball valve on a PR. What ski are you wanting to do this to?

I believe they put the valve in there so that if the check valve gets stuck open (which will cause cavitation), they can still ride

This PRV system uses Jegs -12 check valves. They flow a little better than shrouded sprinkler type valves. The purpose of the ball valve is to allow closure of the system when riding in the ocean. I tend to get debris in the valves causing cavitation and there is no need for the PRV system when riding in the rougher waters since you cant obtain top speed. Since the S3 has rear access panels, opening & closing the system on the fly is possible.

Cool. Very nice setup. I had PR on my 08 and I have it on my conversion, but I never really have had any issues with it.

Thanks Troy. If the valves are un-shrouded sprinkler external type they work very well. Since mine are located in the hull they tend to get small sticks and crap stuck in the poppet valve hence the ball valve. The Jegs work really well but are much more expensive.

best set up I have seen beats the ugly sprinkler sh.t. how big is each water line. when chopping throttle at full speed does it take longer to stop as well as control the ski , just curious. very nice!

Thanks man. The fittings are 1/2" NPT x 3/4" barbed. the hose is 3/4". The Jegs valves are -12AN. Yes you can unscrew them to clean/service as required. No noticeable difference in stopping or control.

sorry did not mean to offend you. yours looks much better than the ones I am thinking of. the ones that hang of a hose in the back of a ride plate with a flapper. your valves are different they look like they don't have a flapper. at what psi do they pop open?and what size kind type is that one?
