  • 16 RXT-X rough idle

I've been bothered about the poor idle my RXT has.
Sometimes it idles, what I would consider "normal" and other times it very rough.
if feels and sounds like a cylinder is down but I get no check engine light.
As soon as I take if for a little cruise and come back to idle all seems good again. After prolonged idling 12 minutes, it starts running poorly again.
Part of me says it's a failing cool, the other part says leaky or dirty injector (It's been this way since day 1)
Eould either of these conditions pop a code?
    Ideas?
Matrix-two of them, because sometimes one just won't do.

Change the spark plugs first, it might be just a misfiring one.

Seeing as it has so few hours and it's been doing it since day one...id say back to the dealer for sure. Id probably remove the SCOM for now just so it doesn't come up that you've been tinkering.

I would change the plugs as i have had plugs be bad out of the bix and they would cause this issue. I would do that first before a 3 week wait at the dealer. Its a cheap and easy check.
I was telling my wife how much my 300 idled very nice.

It's been to the dealer twice and since they don't tank it or take it to the water they say they're unable to replicate the issue. Really??
I brought it down from the river yesterday so I'll see if I can have the dealer put in the plugs so it's documented. They know the issue has been there since day one as well.
Im just surprised there's no misfire code-unless the diagnostics aren't that sophisticated yet.

Have the dealer check and make sure that the MAPS and MATS are reading correctly. Also have them reset your throttle actuator/ throttle body...

I'll verify they have a trained Sea Doo tech and the system to test it. I've found a lot of times the small issues are non trained techs looking at complicated management systems.

Why do that (remove the SCOM)?? According to what I'm reading on this site it doesn't affect warranty.

Sounds like a stick coil. Check the connections. Not a great way to start off your fun with that great machine. Good luck.

Idle comes and goes so no worry yet.
Bothersome so I hope there's a quick fix.

Experienced the rough idle today, took my 16 GTX Ltd. 300 out in San Diego bay today, ran great until I was idling around a no wake bay for about 10-15 minutes then I got the rough idle issue that ph2ocraft experienced, felt like one cylinder was not sparking, or like when my power washer is running with the choke still partially on. Went back to normal after a cruise, then after idling round again for a bit it came back. I think we have found the first issue inherent with the new 300 motors. This was only the second time I have taken this ski out and it now has 3 hours on it. I hope this will get addressed soon. Maybe Tiny can let us know if/once BRP figures out is wrong and issues a service bulletin.

I have the new SCOM from Jerry/RIVA on it's way, not going to install it until this issue gets resolved.
