160 T stat in 2019 RXTX 300

is there any reason I cant use the 160 t-stat in my ski 2019 RXTX 300 , it fits ...but seen in older (2016 RXPX) that had remote oil cooler, that they would get a p0298 code ( oil over temp ) , why this is an issue on the newer boats?
