Definitely agree a better intercooler and a tune would be a big upgrade, but something is quite right with the current setup, so I'd like to fix that first before I start modding it further.

And yes, I got a much nicer trailer last season as well, my old 2 place trailer was totally shot.

dug a little further into this today. I found of the legs shorted to ground and output measured 10 VAC, 4 VAC, and 2 VAC. So it definitely isn't putting out the juice. Battery was at 12.6v and no change with it running or not. Looks like a new stator is in its future.

Well-.I guess I figured out why it was down on power. A little concerning that it broke the gear consider the rebuild has such low hours on it. Having a heck of a time getting the pto cover off so I can survey the rest of the damage.

Still haven't successfully gotten the PTO cover off. Its wedged in there super tight.

You have to remove the motor for cleaning it from the free debris inside . Then change your timing chain , check the oil pumps etc. So you must remove the motor to make a good job ....

Agreed, pull the motor, flush the pan and (checking to make sure you got all the parts, replace the oil pumps and timing chain. It's odd that the gear project, definitely need to check the other gear for damage, hopefully it's ok.

I guess I should have clarified, motor is out of the ski, PTO cover is hella stuck. The other gear has damage, I can already see that looking through the supercharger hole.

Ouch, just went through something similar and got mine back in and running. I hit 68 on the gps with your mods and factory IC @ 7800. Have the aftermarket cooler in now to test in the spring. Hope to get that 200rpm and some MPH back out of it.

Glad you have the engine out and sorry to hear about the gear damage. Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions on removing the PTO cover. Hopefully someone will post a suggestion.

See Magneto Assembly w/PTO cover, item 33? That is the magneto.....its a large magnet, thus making the removal of the PTO cover somewhat difficult. Try twisting and pulling on the cover as evenly as possible. Watch for the 2 washers on the start bendix, don't lose those.

It is, I think something is wedge between the stator and the magnet, I mean its ridiculously stuck. I think that is what took out my stator.

It is possible the broken S/Cer gear is wedged in causing the stuck PTO cover......can the engine be rotated or is it jammed up too?

The engine was running when I pulled it out. I actually originally pulled it to replace the stator when I found the broken supercharger gear. I haven't tried pulling the plugs and rolling it over by hand yet, but might not be a bad next step.

Well the good news is I finally got the PTO cover to release. It was very stuck. The bad news is, the motor is a total glitter factory.

Most of the glitter is collected by the PTO cover Oil Sieve (screen). The smaller glitter particles will pass to the oil cooler and oil filter. Will you rebuild or replace engine?
