8800 rpm with springs and retainers is totally doable and is reliable.2013 RXT-X260 - GRF BorgWarner EFR 67/58 Turbo/MoTeC M130

Do a compression & leakdown test. If results are good no need to pull the head to change springs/retainers. Buy or borrow the proper tools to do the job yourself or have your favorite shop do the work.2013 RXT-X260 - GRF BorgWarner EFR 67/58 Turbo/MoTeC M130

You are correct. A lot of high rpm performance can be held back when doing upgrades other places and not doing at least retainers.Originally posted by 05_RXP View PostI guess that's the worst case. However you know you can float valves With out doing any damage and there are ways to see this. However most of the time it's referred to as dropping a valve when contact is made.Last edited by TAB686; 11-12-2022, 08:17 PM.

I have a 2018 rxpx 300 25 original hours(all riva) with xx wheel, cam, Thur hull vt100 injectors, water box fresh air intake
maptuner 3 plus with cam 8900 rpms stock springs with retainers
ran great first time out 84-85 lots of fun
took back out now will not run over 80 with 8450 rpms
new pump, 58-60 fuel pressure super slips at 16-17 lbs, no leaked in intercooler
battery good, new 93 fuel just put in tank all three cylinder's same compression about 115 cold
the only think we can come up with is the motor 5 years old and the stock springs are bad
anyone else gone thru this
?????

We just bought the Calas cam so we'll see the results against the CRT cam with same CRT ECU'd stage 3 setup. Can't speak for the riva though.SOLD but still in town! '97 Dupont GSX:
