  • Buying used 2020 RXPX 300

Ski has roughly 29 hrs. Fresh water only. What are some things I should look for before purchasing. The ski is immaculate, including the hull. When looking underneath I did notice two circles about the size of a quarter each, one on each side near the V of the hull, slightly recessed but perfectly symmetrical. What are these for, I donÔÇÖt recall seeing them on my rxpx260 which is a 2015. Oil looks clean, and I donÔÇÖt know if any maintenance has been done on the ski. What, if anything, should have been done maintenance wise on the machine with it having 29 hours on it. Thanks

The circles are normal. Not sure what they are for, but they have been on all my skis. The 300’s i have owned have been bulletproof. I always water test and check compression on every ski I buy used. That simple.
sigpicDon't sweat the small stuff. Be happy! Ride on!

Thanks for the reply. Makes me feel better about the purchase.

Does it have a BRP B.E.S.T. service contract on it? I would talk to a dealer and see if one can be put on the ski if you buy it.

When you get it, go over all hose clamps and make sure all are tight.
          Congrats on the new ski!

Please don't blow off that good advice! I did and my supercharger to intake blew off and then a year later my water pump hose blew off. If we weren't at the ramp on that one I would have been screwed.

I don't agree on that . Never had a single problem with blow off except for closed course racing with big chargers ....

Well I can only give you my experience. My wife and I were going across the lake in Maine and heading back to the dock. I gave it a little burst of throttle and we hit about 66 mph or so and it suddenly chopped power and wouldn't go above 35. When we got to the dock I could hear the supercharger really loudly and of course it was running horribly. We pulled it out and the supercharger to intake was popped off right on the top. Easy fix but a little scary when it happened. That was 2 years ago.

Last year the water pump hose popped off after my daughter took it for a blast while I got her TRIXX off the trailer. I had to take that home and tear it apart to fix that one.

So you don't recommend going over all hose clamps? That's terrible advice. I had a hose clamp blow off on a brand new stock ski, my 2018 RXT-X and it burnt up the motor. You can read about hoses popping off all over this forum and various facebook groups.
