  • Frogzskin Adhesive

What is the best adhesive to use on Frogzskin mesh? I have to cover some vents that unfortunately frogzskin doesn't make ones in that size. So picked up a yard of the Frogzskin mesh, just not sure what the best adhesive to use is. I know silicone and right stuff dont work, because frogzskin is polyester cyrinal acrylate wont work either. I was thinking E6000 because it remains flexible. Any suggestions?

I was going to do the same thing this Summer and was thinking of RTV pressed into the mesh where it contacts the hull.

I have had good luck running silicone actually. It could just be that it is a mechanical bond rather than a chemical adhesion because you can squish it through the mesh then the silicone encapsulates the fibers. Just a guess, can't say it is the best or even right way to do it but its worked so far.

I've used rtv and gasket maker, even gorilla glue it holds for about 2 weeks then starts to separate. I think I'm gonna try the E6000 spray adhesive then maybe the flex seal.

Super/Crazy glue might work if you don't care about the acrylic surface getting damaged in that spot. I think it will melt top surface of the acrylic and bond well.

Problem with crazy glue is it dries brittle and doesn't flex. Vents should be here Monday, I think I'm gonna have to do some test patches with various adhesives to figure out which is best.

Why not try fiberglass resin? A little scuffing & it will stick forever!

Any reason some of the home depot polyurethane sealers/glues won't work? I'd be surprised if something like Quad sealer didn't work. That stuff is used for exterior window/door/siding caulking and is flexible once cured.

After a bunch of experimenting, and having no success. Tried contact cement and it works, finally!!!! Now gotta cut some holes in her and fingers crossed, the contact cement was the trick.

How big did you drill your openings? I'm looking at 2.5" wondering if its not taking out too much material, there's no heavy stuff above so it shouldn't be a structural issue I think. Still a little hard drilling something this big into a new ski

You will be fine drilling those holes. I have a much larger hole in the same spot and I don't have any structural issues.

I started with the ones on the platform and all I have left to drill is that area on both sides but haven't pulled the trigger yet, wonder how much of a difference having those extra 4 holes in the front benefit my j intake.

Go for a ride and compare wide open rpm with seat on and seat off a bit. If the extra air from the seat being off increases RPM then you know you have more potential available from adding vents.
