Coolant Leaking...

I was snooping around my ski looking for a place to mount my Bilge pump on my GTX S/C and I noticed that there was a little bit of coolant that looked like it had leaked out of the coolant hose at the very end of the hose as it goes into the hull...and when I say a little I mean it was just a very thin ring about 3/4ths the way around the base of the tube...Is this something to worry about or is it just because the ski hasnt been ran in about 4 or 5 months, and it just seeped out? thanks

If it`s where the hoses go into the ride plate thru the hull, it is those crappy wire clamps, change them out to regular hose clamps and you`ll be fine...PR...

What kind of hose clamp do you suggest and Is there a way to get them off without taking the hoses off?? thanks

That is the exact location where I had a leak. I found it the first time while installing the Bilge...Take a stainless steel screw clamp and remove that piece of crap clamp that is there. Ya gotta make it tight or it will continue to leak.

Removing the hose is one way, but, I would just slide it to the top, replace it with a nice Stainless screw type, and when you drain the coolant one day, pop the hose off of the ride plate and slide it right off. Don't even think about lifting that hose out of the ride plate unless the coolant is empty. A nice big mess will follow if you do.

the stock clamps may not be tight enough to keep it from leaking and they are hard to work with BUT, they will never loosen overtime and let a hose blow off! If you can scoot the stock clamp up on the hose just enough to make room for a screw clamp and have both would be the best thing and is what I will do if mine ever leaks. Actually a large zip tie with a metal locking tab in addition to the stock clamp may work if you can get a good pull on it.

Unscrewing the hose clamp works. To make things easier for me, I tightened a small hose clamp around the tabs on the wire clamp to squeeze it and move it out of the way.

I used channel lock pliers that I moddified with grooves to grab the wire clamps, also serviced my antifreeze at same time, so I removed the hoses...PR...
