  • My RXP blew the superchrger.

At least thats what the dealer said today. i rode on the 4th and the weekend, monday it just started making a horrible sound then it just quit, it sounded like I got something in the pump, no. I had my friend tug me in and i took it to the dealer. Today he calls says the super charger went bad. He also asked if the RIVA kit did it? yadda, yadda. its still under waranty so he's gonna fix it. I got to wait 2 weeks I am bummed. He also said my oil was low? How could this be? I have'nt touched anything. Will the RIVA stage 2 make this happen? He said I should put it back to stock..screw that.

This might be the tenth post in two weeks that I read on this board about the SC clutch going bad. Sounds like another big mistake what seadoo came up with just like the wear rings.

I truely believe this clutch problem is a design and engineering flaw that I hope Seadoo addresses and corrects soon. The idea of a clutch bathing in oil just never seemed logical to me. If it needs a clutch it needs to be on the other side of the housing and not inside the engine.

No problems from my clutch , of course i am not modded out trying to break a speed record . Done been thru that phase . A wise man once told me a slow reliable boat always beats a fast broke boat

"Wet" clutches have been in use for decades. When the factory switched to the ceramic type clutch as a fix for the original metal one that was prone to slipping, all seemed well. It seems that almost all the recent problems with the clutch are on modified boats or those using the RR clutch. This has been almost a non issue for stock boats. I think the problem lies in the clutch installation. Something is just not right with it.

I am agreeing . These modded boat are eating up the clutches . Or modifying the clutch pass the emgineers specs with spacers less slip etc

I really think the current bloom of SC failures can be explained by a lack of knowledge of SC installation specs for people doing it. That includes the owners AND the mod shops. I think what we are going to see if a couple of safe setups came out of this and this scare will fade away.

So far the stock setup, the 1 shim stock setup, and the full on RR HD clutch assembly with HD shaft and no shims seem to be working out well. Only time will tell though.
