  • HP Tuners Remote Tuning

Not sure if this belongs here, so feel free to move if not.

My HP Tuners remote tuner arrived today. I obviously don't get the functionality of the full platform but my tuner does. The tuner device has logging capabilities through a free phone app. So I put a base map from my tuner on the ecu and take some logged runs, send him the data and he adjusts the tune so I can upload a new one as needed. Thought it was a good alternative to get a custom tune from someone besides Riva on MaptunerX, we shall see once I start the process

Ruthless seems to not be looked upon highly on the forum. I have had nothing but good experiences with him. Very fast to respond no matter when I send a message and very helpful. I've messaged some other ÔÇ£popularÔÇØ tuners and never got a response.
He's gone out of his way and swapped out a K&N air filter for free for me when he updated his intake kit to the marine filter, I was contacting him to purchase it. He'll be tuning my ski so I'll report back once it's finished.

Probably because whenever he shows up, with a new account, he always ends up talking sh!t about the forum/members till he gets banned. This happens every single time he comes here.

I think he may be referring to the reputation of certain companies. I'm not going to throw any names out there but you have to watch who you are dealing with in this industry. Some companies have a reputation of being thieves, crooks, scammers, etc. As for tuning, I would stick with the tried and true tuners who have an excellent reputation behind them if you are not going to be tuning yourself(RIVA and Deans Team probably tune 95% of modified skis on the water). There are plenty of companies out there that are known for bricking ECUs and blowing up skis. For all you know you may be supporting a thief who uses "stolen" tune files as base files. I know first hand of companies that have purchased a MaptunerX/numerous licenses and posted videos using K-TAG to scan the ECU and "steal" the tune files. Now these companies offer their own tuning...kinda fishy.

From what I could find by searching he doesn't really use the platform unless someone draws him into it and it has always gone south fast. I'm relatively new here so relying on the search function isn't always the best though when trying to get all the info. That being said I've been in direct contact with him over the last 8 months and he's been absolutely great to deal with. As far as working with him for tuning, I wanted something custom apposed to off the shelf and after speaking to him and Riva I decided to go the HP tuners route. Like I said multiple other tuners didn't even respond to multiple attempts to contact them. Time will tell.

With HP tuners you (the end user) don't have to stick with a water craft "TUNER" a well rounded reparable Tuner can do the job.

Just an FYI If you buy a TDN interface like the OP has from Ruthless or any other tuner you are stuck with that tuner as you yourself will not have access to the HP tuning tables from that interface. Go to HP tuners site and look it up, says so right on thier site. That whole system was developed for tuners to have an easier way to help their clients tune their vehicles but it does not allow clients access to the files.

Yes. Ruthless has spent a ton of time working with me and getting a from scratch tune dialed in. Just spoke with him today and got an updated map for summer heat. He’s worked with me at 6/7 pm during the week and on Saturdays, I have nothing bad to say at all. He’s always responsive when I text and usually calls to discuss things as he working on them. Ski is a 16 rxt 260 hitting 82 mph

Yes I'm aware, wasn't my point. my friend/tuner, we drag race imports, had him tune my 22' TX "rear intake only" 81mph with 1/2 tank.
