Its been a year since removing the engine from my 2008 RXT-X255 for some upgrades. But then a good deal caught my eye and I bought Chet LS3's RXT-X260 last summer. His ski was stock except for a Kicker sound system. Upgrading to a turbo was not part of the initial plan, however, I was soon in contact with Evan, and things have not been the same since!
This past fall I rode the 2013 TX in its stock configuration.....approximately 67 mph at 7900 rpm on a very warm and humid day. Later, I added the M130 with the 8350 tune to the completely stock ski. For those who know Lake Conroe, its nearly impossible to find flat water. Still, this ski went 72.3 at 8220 rpm on a full tank of Shell 93 octane fuel.
The engine has the usual stuff:
8.4:1, 1st oversize CP pistons (coated), Carillo rods
SuperTech valves, springs, retainers, keepers
lightened/polished crank (by Falicon)
Head: pocket ported/decked, stock head gasket
Block: decked and block guard added
ARP Head Studs (GHPPS)
New bearings, new oil pumps, new cam chain/guides
1" exhaust spacer (GHPPS)
Riva Open Loop Cooling Kit (GHPPS)
stock exhaust manifold w/bell removed
Stock intake manifold/modified
Rhaas engine mounts
Engine built by Richard & Greg Patterson of WFO Performance.
The GRF turbo is the Borg Warner 67/58 with watercooled exhaust housing & up/down pipes. The turbo will use a new Intercooler and will need a new bracket fab'd up as well as the charge piping. The exhaust is a Riva 3.5" outlet, exiting on the left side. A waterbox will not be used.
BW Turbo by Evan Kassing of GRF Turbo.
A MoTeC M130 will handle the fuel/ignition duties and I2 Standard data-logging monitors 3 O2 sensors via 1 LTCD and 1 LTC: 1 wide band O2 sensor for each cylinder. MoTeC M130 tuning by Nils Castillo of Castillo Motorsports.
ARP Head Studs, Riva Stainless Steel wear ring, Riva Open Loop Cooling Kit and RAD4 1" exhaust Spacer purchased thru GreenHulk Performance Parts Store (GHPPS). Thank you Jerry!
AmsOil 30W break in oil for first 10 hours (no fiction modifiers) then switched to AmsOil 15W50 Racing oil.
The engine was removed a couple of weeks ago and my 2008 TX engine installed.....didn't even need to remove the tilt seat! Before the engine install, a couple of items needed attention: Cleaning and correct the thru hull fitting to transom alignment.
