  • Tip of the day: Shimming Supercharger Clutch

To keep your ski running at it's peak performance it's often necessary to shim the supercharger clutch to prevent slippage.

The shims go in between the spring washers as shown in this picture

If your clutch components are really worn you might find it necessary to install two shims. Sometimes you will find that two shims is too much but one is not enough. If the clutch is too tight with two shims what you can do it mill down the L ring on a piece of emery cloth or sand paper.

The L ring is the collar that goes on the shaft just before the nut

What i do is rub it back and forth on some emery cloth about 10-15 times, reassemble and check the slip. Sometimes it's necessary to mill it down a couple of times until you get the slip fine tuned.

Hope this was helpful to some of you

It's just a Nikon D40 with a macro lens that Mike and Hydrotoys recommended to me. The lens is a Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro whatever all that mumbo jumbo means

I like a higher slip moment on the rude chargers. 13-14 ft lbs.
