  • That's true also, but by pinching only the 1/4ÔÇØ from exhaust manifold to waterbox you're already eliminate the risk of backfilling waterbox and exhaust ports.
I use this method also to give the IC a proper 5 min. backflush with engine stopped. So I'm not limited in time by the burning carbon seal.

Checked this the first few times with 1/4ÔÇØ hose disconnected. To be sure the pinched hose would not let any water through towards waterbox.

      • Guys new guy here have had my 2010 RTX215 for while, I bought the parts and put the kanaflex intake on and everything, my question is the catch for the valve that's on the side of the head too? I didn't buy catch can, could I just add longer hose and add a fitting to the kanaflex and re-plumb it to the Kana flex tubing? the document didn`t go into detail about the valve on the side of the head. Thanks and Awesome site!

        • I have it on my side a 45 degree outlet, I will see the flow if the bilge pump becomes active.

            • i just ordered a seaflo 750, looking to figure out where best to mount it near the carbon seal

would i have any issue putting the bilge outlet on the shoulder? its not really flat, i don't want it in the footwell

waiting on switch, and a few more things to arrive

Was sitting there tonight, drill and holesaw in hand - i didnt have the guts enough to drill into a perfectly good hull thought i better ask around before i pull the trigger

great post, i have ordered everything else on the list!

              • 3rotor,

These aluminum through hull fittings would look much better than the plastic one in your hand! There are numerous choices on the page with the link above.
2 bilge pumps are always better than one.

BTW, this is an old thread, but I still have the 05 GTX (single pump) and 10 RXT-X Turbo (dual pumps) skis both still have bilge pumps working as designed all these years later. The shutoff valves are brass vise PVC.

                Cheers

I have posted info regarding the bilge pump installations I have done on our Yamaha.

The Whale SS1212 model lays horizontal in the hull which can be an advantage inside some hulls. The water sensor is electronic and integral to the pump. No float switch.

I also do not have an on-off-auto switch in the circuit.
There is a waterproof inline power disconnect plug for longer term storage.

I have two GP1800, each with an added electric bilge pump. My preference is for the bilge water exit flow to be easily visible to the rider. If somehow water does accumulate in the bilge and the pump automatically activates, the sudden appearance of the stream of water flowing out may be my first warning that something is not right.

I have posted info on how I installed the Whale SS1212 bilge pump. It is rated at about 1100 gph and has a built-in automatic electronic water sensor.

                  • heh, the one i had in my hand is the rear nut, to show how convex and concave the hull is.

those half circle shiny ones are tidy, unfortunately i can only imagine what the postage would be from the states to Oz! the groco strainer was (75usd alone)

its definitely an old thread, however it has stood the test of time! all the information you started off with is still relevant today. Very helpful for the aftermarket community and re-birthing some life into some old ski's.
