Have you had your RXT-X looked at for cracks? I called sea-doo and they said to take it in to my dealer for pictures for them to look at for starters. But i have to wait the weather is 0 in illinois. Hope it warms up soon.

Yea, it had pump tunnel cracks in the gel coat. Took it the dealer, and got it back two weeks later. They sent the pictures of the cracks to SeaDoo, who authorized a local fiberglass repair shop to do the repairs. The did it right, and they did a good job.
Rode it two days ago, and it did 68.1 mph on the GPS, and I was just sitting on it, not doing the "superman" or anything like that, so it's back to normal.

I checked it out, and afterwords, still no cracks. The whole thing was covered by SeaDoo.

Yes, it was out of manufacturers warranty, but, I had an extended warranty.
They should still cover it regardless of the warranty.

UPDATE; I just went out and took a real good look at my pump tunnel, and there are a few spider cracks in the gel coat, again!!!
It's going back to the dealer tomorrow. But, here's the deal; with pump tunnels, and gel coat, I think that over time, especially considering how much I ride, they're going to happen. That's a lot of pressure in that tunnel, and I think over time, there is going to be flexing no matter what you do.

I just want SeaDoo's "seal of approval" that they are fine. That way, if the pump tunnel fails at some point in time in the future, I have something to fall back on.

Wow! sorry to hear that ,so it looks like no matter how you fix it it still cracks, So maybe its a waste of time to fix it. Maybe i should wait until it gets worse and starts breaking apart. Maybe small cracks are normal as long as it doesnt break apart I guess. I ve read some stories that some people have small hair line cracks for years and nothing more happens. So maybe thats the way it is. This RXT-X is my fifth watercraft and its the first for this i never have seen this in any other watercraft I've owned. I hate for this to happen because they cost so much. Maybe thats why sea-doo changed the hull for 2010. But there are a few out there with no cracks in the pump tunnel at all and some do. Maybe heavy jumping or heavy chop riding does this, I ride on a fresh water lake, and sometimes it gets rough 2-3ft. waves from boat wakes or heavy wind brings big waves. I heard if sea-doo knows you jump waves or ride agressive they refuse to cover this problem. Good luck and dont put that R&D top loader on sea-doo might not cover it again. Good luck.

I think the smart thing to do is have it fixed. That hollow area above the pump tunnel, is a disaster waiting to happen. Once that is filled in, the gel coat my crack again, but, you won't have a catastrophic tunnel failure, which may sink your boat.
If it starts to leak, it may be to late.
I ride strictly on Lake Havasu/Colorado River. I don't jump anything. But, I do spend a fair amount of time racing around buoys, and riding at speeds above 60mph. And, I ride over 100 hours a year.
Most SeaDoo owners don't ride nearly as much as I do. They also don't spend as much time as I do riding at those speeds, or around buoys.

It's just a design flaw. SeaDoo is aware of it. Get if fixed before your riding at 60mph, it fails suddenly, throws you off the ski, and it sinks, quickly.

I have heard some guys just letting it break and sink and collect the insurance money. I know thats not the way to go, I have full coverage, But I ride with my wife and kids so thats not for me. soon as the weather gets better i'll take it in to my dealer. weather forecast 5-7 in snow so it will be march. maybe sooner. The RXT-X best and fastest watercraft I've ever had and this happens, the motor is a good running 8100rpm at 68.8 stock with gps, Thats not bad for a stock watercraft, for that big and heavy of a boat. Plus my kids love to tube and this pulls you around fast and easy with no problems.

                  the X-man

yeah my stage 3 x has sank twice now. The first time took the motor with it. i have paid 2k for hull repair and 3300 for new pistons and rings. no more than 3 hours were put on the machine and it fills up again, and again getting water into the motor but not ruining it. its leaking in the same spot. are you all sure that the carbon fiber reinforcement is going to hold?

Update to my update; it appears that the spider cracks in the gel coat are still there, because that part was never repaired; really no need to. The pump tunnel is still smooth, and the cracks are only hairline, so they are more cosmetic than anything else.
                    So, the fix worked.
If you guys are getting leaks/sinking, you might wanna check your carbon seals.
So far, my boat has never leaked a drop, and has been maintenance free. I just follow the recommended maintenance in the manual and ride like hell. Very reliable ski.

I have never experenced such a problem but to save your ski wouldn't it make sence to flip the ski on its side or up side down to prevent water from entering after it blows out?

Sounds like a good idea, assuming your conscious after getting thrown off. But, that's what insurance is for

                            Yep...mine's on 08, and it's on the RXT-X. Don't know about the P-X, as I don't own one.

from what i have seen in person, and pictures on here the tunnel usually blows out on the left side. Not sure why though.
